Many professionals fall victim to the pressures of the insta-service world. From people getting distracted by incoming emails while in a meeting, to the incessant obsession with checking every incoming text.

I think this behavior drains from professionalism horribly. I am not an on-demand item, and I won't pretend to let my clients treat me like I am. I try to set times aside during the day to answer emails and texts and messages. As a general rule, I don't jump at every new email and try to get right on it or fumble with my phone while in a meeting.

Doing this allows me to focus for more than 35.8 seconds at a time on things and give clients the careful and considered attention that they should expect.

TL;DR: An instant and on-demand world is not a good thing.
