There is a vast difference between a military watch collector and a "collector". Most military Rolex collectors want to see provenance, after that it is subjective. As the original owner of a combat MACVSOG 1680 Red Submariner, the value exceeds well
beyond milsubs. Seal team members were issued Tudor Submariners by the Navy.
Most 5th Special Forces Gp(ABN) preferred individual purchase of Rolex references to issue
GI watches or Seiko versions.
Most of my fellow Green Berets in Vietnam purchased
Rolex Submariner or GMT watches. In the mid to late 1960s, many ref 5512 and 5513
series were purchased by 5th Group members because of their toughness as tool watches. The prices in Hong Kong at the China Fleet Club were a bit cheaper than in
the AAFES/PACEX exchanges.

This GMT would go well next to my SAS beret exchanged for one of mine at Hereford.
Also was a guest at Williamtown, NSW with the lads.
