I'd argue just the opposite, that it is in some ways one of the most boring because it has never been the source of true innovation in watchmaking. Other SS sport models, such as the Sub, SD, GMT/Exp. II included groundbreaking feats in watchmaking, such as water tightness, gas release and multiple timezone display. Functionally speaking, the Daytona is just another chronograph, albeit one that benefits from other Rolex innovations.
