If you wound the watch immediately before you put it down it should have kept time for 48 hours.
If you wore the watch after you wound it and then put it down, it was most likely not completely wound up and would not have kept running for the 48 hours after you set it down. Therefore it would not need servicing.

People have all different levels of activity and it affects how much the rotor winds the watch.
