A Google image search indicates that all the Montecarlos with the homeplate markers had that white bit above the shield at 12 o'clock. It's actually on the dial rather than being a reflection/artifact. I'd never noticed it before.
These ones with the black dial are rare AF, hence the price. It's the Tudor version of a mega-grail Paul Newman, Comex, Milsub, or whatever comparison you want to make.
Amazing that black rather than grey adds 60 grand to the price!
