Unfortunately, it's a fairly common "technique" to overexpose (and/or crank up the brightness in PS), which can hide flaws. The light-box may contribute to this, but it's something that can easily be addressed with properly dialing in the exposure/flash/aperture settings for a given set-up. With the current technology of digital photography (instant results), there really is no excuse for poorly executed pics, especially from a high-volume dealer with an online storefront.
