$1k for a $48k watch isn't bad IMHO. Don't forget a $7,000 dollar Rolex costs about $750-$800 for full service. Any expensive or high end watch is going to cost a fair amount to service. If one has to worry about cost of service probably shouldn't be buying high end watches.
