Bear in mind that Hublot was already in existence when JCB joined, after selling Blancpain to Swatch Group, so the theme was there from the start in the form of the MDM model, which introduced the notion of gold with a rubber strap.


You can see where the ‘ears’ came from, and the bolts were changed to H screws.

AP were the first true luxury watchmaker to release a sporty steel watch.

PP responded by hiring the same designer to copy the idea.

Evolution? Perhaps. But the overlap is plain to see.
