1 hour would be nice if the gates were side-by-side and the world was perfect.
However, by the time you get parked, doors opened and you're off the plane, then make your way to another gate, that could be a long way away, you are already at pre-boarding time and they close the doors 10 minutes before departure time.
If you like living on the edge, go for it.
I prefer to hit the head, pick up a Cinnabon, and stretch the legs for bit. Peace of mind is worth something, I'll take the 3 hours.
