But what if he passes it down in mint condition and it still sits in the box because his son is either too afraid to wear it, isn't interested in automatic watches or would rather sell it for cash? All that time would be wasted on a hope and a dream.
If my father handed me a mint condition watch from 20 years ago, I'd be afraid to wear it. If it had been worn and enjoyed for those 20 years, I'd send it off for service -- requesting it NOT be polished -- and wear the daylights out of it.
