I like the simplicity of old clasp. Prefer the look of it as well. The diver extension kind of sucks though. Also it's easy to rinse out. Anyone have any reports about how the glidelock deals with beach sand?

It did not "catch", and as I fell back level, the back of the chair hooked under the clasp.

I believe the clasp "unassembled" at the "sliding shoes" and this prevented all damage. It's just that one of the sliding shoes has left the building.

It looks like a $.02 part, I figure $45 from Rolex. Just need to know how to buy the part! I hung on to one. No other disassembly occurred.

What a great chuckle to begin the workweek with. Your description is hysterical. I’m just sorry it’s at your expense. But thank you!

Sending it to the Dallas RSC on Monday after I carry it in my pocket for a few days to make sure it’s keeping good time.

They will do a full assessment of it when it arrives and will tell you if it's not running right. Was there impact (did it hit the ground?) if so and you tell them so or they can tell they will likely require a full service.

Id call Rolex Dallas today and ask them to send you the shipping package with shipping instructions. They include everything you need (box with cut out for the watch, tape for sealing the box, labels etc). You will have to ship it from the post office.

If you insist on doing it yourself, the part reference is 32-33419.

It used to be a white gold part, but they changed it to a plastic composit a few years back.

Rolex Dallas will not sell me the $4 sliding shoe 32-33419, which is the only thing needed to return this under warranty $40k watch to duty.

$2,716. Replace undamaged 18k clasp due to "damage" (a dent), replace crown due to "dent".

I'm paying it to get my watch back, going to dump $300k of this brand and update an apple watch yearly.

I was a chump to believe in Rolex. What an idiot.

Sorry to hear this but such is how they do business. Dumping out of the brand is your business but seems to be a knee jerk reaction. You have a great watch[es] and this is the cost of ownership. I don't like it and neither do most. I would get the watch back, give it a minute and see.

Wow … surprised to hear that Rolex is making you replace the entire clasp. Perhaps there is more damage to it than you first thought??

Anyway, I’m sorry to hear it’s soured you on the brand. Maybe give it some time. Perhaps a local watchmaker or an independent with a Rolex parts account can repair it.

Find an independent or an AD with an in-house watchmaker. I’d bet either of those options will yield a more reasonable result

I would call the Rolex Independent Service center in Ormond Beach. They have been my go to for years. I am pretty sure they can replace that part at a reasonable price.

I read this whole thread and OP you perplex me. You made a mistake and hoped to just snag the obscure part online for a brand that has not operated that way. You ignored all the reasonable replies. I would personally have followed Bas's advice and likely got it fixed. You don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You have cool watches, it's frustrating for sure, but the crown protects its brand. Embrace the nonsense and get it fixed.

Just call Rikki and see if he can get the part and fix it. He is a highly respected and recommend watchmaker on TRF and has a Rolex account. He is the only one that touches my watches. Gotta skip the drama and unknown variables with RSC. It’s just not worth it when guys like Rikki do a better job than Rolex on every level of service.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t take it to the AD and just let them swap that piece for you? That would be 100 times easier than shipping it to the RSC in the first place?

Oh no, that sounds like a challenging situation with your Rolex! To buy a replacement part, you might want to reach out to authorized Rolex service centers or consider looking into reputable third [arty watchmakers.

This would be my exact first move in efforts to get this fixed. He does not try to gouge customers from my experience and has never even suggested doing unneeded extra work or parts replacement. Plus, he's timely.

I’d feel the same.
Still looks doable to make the part yourself or ask a jeweler goldsmith.

Rolex doesn’t repair much if any but only replaces, works for them, for us not so much.

I do not advocate this, BUT you probably could purchase a replica bracelet and source the part from such.

Only if your back is against the wall, and Rolex or your AD is of no help.

Again, I do not advocate this action, however it could be a vector to temporary success until you can find a "real part".
