i wanted to buy a Daytona with a date of JUNE 2016 written on its warranty card. 2016 was the last year in terms of production for the 116520. I asked the shop owner how could he be sure it was genuinely a 2016, so he produced the white tag that was only introduced after out after May 2016. A white tag in this case is important?

Some people like to collect everything that came with their watch. Obviously, the watch and the cert/card are the most important. The older green (now white) rectangular tag with the SN is the only other bit that is specific to the watch. All the rest are generic.

In terms of resale, it shouldn't affect it much; but against the same watch in the same or similar condition that has all the bits & pieces, most people would go for the more complete.

The older green tags with serial number label add some value to older/vintage Rolex watches, so the white tags might well add value years from now, if not currently.

Well if and a big if these bits of plastic add value to any watch with even today's technology very easy to fake so in future 100% sure it will even easier.

A set with the white serial number tag is more desirable to many collectors, as is one with a bezel protector. Not sure if that’s the same as adding “value, but it’s definitely better to have ‘em.

That’s why many sales listings will specifically say whether or not the set comes with the serial number tag.

For the record, I just bought a new 124060 Sub that the U.S. AD provided with everything: white tag, outer sleeve, bezel protector and everything else. Some ADs still include it all.

Just ask yourself this question. If you are presented with 2 sets, all things equal, with the exception that 1 has more accessories such as corresponding white/green tags and booklets etc, which one will you buy. Some buyers/collectors out there will not even consider buying a set without complete accessories.

That's why I stated it was the only situation I could recall that the white tag would be if value.

Absolute zero value I would say. Box, warranty and leaflets are more than enough.

“Some” is an unspecified amount and usually means a small number or a small amount of people. So I agree with you.

My understanding is there is a difference between "Box and Papers" and "Full Set" Full set includes the other thingumabobs like sleeves for cards, outer sleeve, bezel protectors, the little anchor and dive tables for older subs and so on. Maybe the coffin. Basically everything that came with the watch except the stickers. Box and papers seem to add about 10% to the price, not sure how much extra "full set" does.

ADs take these to discourage flipping, what does it matter to give the customer a white tag or bezel protector and outer box sleeve and leave the stickers on. I agree with others that it does not matter unless it’s a rare dial or something vintage that supports it came with that dial.

Watch, warranty card and the box. That’s it. unless less it’s something very rare and expensive. Where the more you have the better the providence is.

Just my $02

Thank you in advance for enlightening me!
Already you are thinking about resale?!

SMH... who cares about resale value if you plan to keep and wear the watch.
