Pls help on WW2 Tudor from Canada?

Hello,

I'm completely new, so hope I don't offend any rules ...

This vintage Tudor sn 655330 / 817 would date from 1948, when looking at the standard serial number list.

However, the story is that this watch is from Canada and worn during WW2, so before 1948.
According to some articles on the web, Rolex/Tudor had special watches for Canada (and US?) around WW2.

Can anyone please help if this story is true and provide some more info on the serial number?

Thanks a lot!
Winfried, The Netherlands
