Should I sell my 5960/1A?

I need some of your expertise.

I bought a 5960/1A when it first came out. I love it as much today as the day I bought it. However, I've only worn it a handful of times. It's just not getting the wrist time and I don't see that changing.

And while I enjoy seeing it in it's home, it's there all of the time. So, I'm thinking I may sell it. With that, do any of you connoisseurs think that this watch will greatly appreciate over time (i.e. once they stop making it) -- or should I just sell it and I'll have no financial regrets in your opinion?

Yes, I know I could wear it more, but let's assume that's not an option. Thanks for the input as always!

Why is it not getting worn? What other pieces are occupying your wrist? ... And what would you replace the 5960 with?

If it's not worn, it's ready for sale.

No doubt it will be sought after if PP cease production ,basically I understand your dilemma tough I think financial loss is tough if you sell it.

Considering how soft the market is for them, I'd imagine it would appreciate some, but I can't imagine any time soon. I'm not sure I understand, if you love it as much as you did when you got it how come you don't wear it? I'd rather have 30 some k invested in a watch I wear. Every dealer I've seen has one or two available, so if you regret it won't be hard to get again.

I sold mine and wish I still had it but I've recently acquired the 5905 AC so I don't need another annual calendar. I found it extremely comfortable, the bracelet while not popular makes the watch perfect for warm or hot weather and I was one of the few that thought it looked good. I wore mine for over a month straight while travelling in Europe last summer, it's under the radar and practical. If you sell now you'll take a big hit because there are a ton for sale and they don't sell according to AD's I've talked too. My opinion is it won't appreciate at all, discontinued or not, and if it is discontinued it's not well liked and why would a collector buy a pre owned when the new are available for a hefty discount. Keep it unless you need the funds for something else, or wear it for a couple weeks and then decide.

I love the dial, but like most not the bracelet which is 90% like the Bretling Bracelet, had one and it is exactly the same, they could have done a little different, and I saw it in real, don't think it will appreciate any day, too many and too small demand, I love the dial though, I just think they messed up on the bracelet, and clients seem to think so too since they don't sell, if you don't wear it sell it, but the hit will be big, esp if you got close to retail, good luck

If you don't wear, sell. That's my motto. Market is quite soft for that reference unfortunately.

It's hard to predict price appreciation/depreciation of a current watch model.

If you no longer love the watch, I would say definitely sell it. But you say you still love the watch, which makes it a tough choice, either way.

Since you still love it what is keeping you from wearing it? What I would do is put it on a leather bracelet, but not croc/gator, veal, saw a pic of one and the watch looks IMO just great, much nicer than on bracelet, and I love bracelets, when I flipped 8+ watches it wasn't watches I loved and rarely wore but watches I liked and never wore, hard to understand your situation really

I wouldn't trade my 5711 blue for a 5960/1a. Would anyone else? Just curious.

There is a very easy solution to this problem of course: WEAR IT.

Tough time to sell this reference. You could sell and take a hit but get something else you like more now or you can hold onto it for several years and hope it appreciates "some"...

I don't have the 5960/1A, but almost bought it a couple of times but the bracelet was a deal-breaker for me....would I trade my 5711 for it, NO WAY.

Maybe use the 5960 plus cash/another watch(es) to trade into a 5980 or 5990?

If you don't wear it you know what to do...Redeploy funds to one you will. Yes bad time to sell but also good time to buy.

If you're not wearing it then that's 30k tied up being wasted doing nothing, I wouldn't like that so I'd say sell it.

However....it may appreciate but not for a long time. Not saying it will be the same but remember PN Daytona's were never popular when they were on sale new, it's partly because of this there's so few around which caused them to appreciate. Of course you just need someone really really famous and super cool to start wearing a 5960/1A too now ;-)

I own one and it's my daily wear. It's a fantastic piece.

I never sell any Pateks that I acquire.

Someday in the future it may become your new favorite.

Why arent u wearing it? If you like it just as much as when you bought it what is the reasoning for letting her collect dust. It is SS and on a bracelet so could be worn in many different settings

I have one and wear it often. That being said, if you don't wear it, trade it.

I plan on ordering this just to mix it up.

Yeah if you aren't wearing it then easy choice.

This watch is a perfect exercise in the unpredictability of the market. When it was released everyone clamored about how it was going to be sought after and it was commanding close to retail.

I looked at the prices for new and used, they sell for 40% off retail new, maybe more, so I would keep it esp if you love it, just try to wear it more
Amazing how the grey PT and this one went down in flames price wise, I know I couldn't take such a huge hit on resale and would keep it, I'd just put a strap

Incorrect. You can not buy a new one for $30,000. You won't even find a pre owned for that. Dream on.

Yes. There is no $ 30,000 5960/a for close to that price.

Agree with this.

I would first try it on a black leather strap, I think it looks great, if you haven't already before selling.
