5711 has bitten me...

I’ve always liked the Nautilus range and a few years ago when I first set myself a target of getting a Nautilus, only the 5711 was in anyway reasonable as an ambition (at the time it was reasonably available), but truth be told, I didn’t love it. Things moved on a little, and I ended up being in a position to choose whichever Nautilus I wanted, so I got myself a 5990, my favourite (just, over the 5712).

All was well.

And then yesterday, I was sat next to a chap wearing a 5711 on a plane. It was stunning! And now I want one!

The last thing I need is another steel sports watch (I have three Rolex, three AP, and the 5990)...but here we are, with the the 5711 bug finally properly bitten!

Bugger!

Ahhhh...I know that feeling all too well. The 5990 is beautiful and symmetrical in its own way. But...the 5711 is perfection. The gradient face is something to behold. I totally understand your new found love/respect. It’s a watch for life, versatile and timeless. Happy hunting!

The 5711 is a very cool watch and I have almost bought one several times. I have a large wrist at 7.5-7.75 and the 5711 is just a little small for my tastes. I have always preferred the white dial over the blue but both are very nice.

Surprised as you have the 5990, the SS 5711 never did very much for me, I wouldn't pay for one when I was offered 10% off back in the day.

She has 1 but has had 3 nautilus over the past few years. The 4700, 7118 and now the 5711. But she prefers the RM more.

I may trade her into a 35-03 when it comes out in 2021

Sounds like you should be able to source one at retail. Good luck on your journey. Makes you appreciate it all the more.

The 5711 is a very beautiful piece. It ain’t even close to 50k beautiful IMO. It’s 25k beautiful. Although the AP 15500 is just as nice and only 19k.

If you truly love the 5711 I pray you find one at retail.

So you happen to fall in love with the most coveted watch in the world. Such is human nature. Since it is highly unlikely you will get one at retail, you will have to go grey. The good news is that when you discover its charms are fleeting, you can resell for very little loss or maybe a gain. Good luck.

Interesting one... but I for one won't be fussed as I don't care much for the 5990. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence...
