The new GMT or Daytona

This would be my first brand new Rolex given the choice the New 2018 GMT vs the new 2018 Daytona, which is for keeps if I plan to pass it on to my newly born son when he graduates college. Both are nice and I love both, since the price difference is not that wide in the future w/c would you think be more valuable. Thanks

I’d go Daytona. Pepsi is nice, but will drop in price over time as the hype decreases. I’d get the Daytona.

I can tell you as someone who currently owns both white and black Daytona 116500 and new BLRO GMT 126710 I like the new GMT the most. It is my new favorite Rolex! At the end of the day they are both superb watches and glad I don't have to choose one over the other. As for which will be more valuable I could truly care less! I own them to wear and enjoy and if in 20 years they were worth nothing big deal. They aren't investments to me they are simply watches.

PS I wouldn't pay over retail for any of them nor any watch.

I prefer the D500, as for price they will both be in demand for a long time.

I'd definitely give him the Daytona, the GMT buzz will fizzle out overtime but the Daytona will remain as the Rolex premier watch to own.

I find the GMT feature more useful. I rarely use the features of my Speedmaster besides just for telling time.

Love your trio, all 3 look amazing together!! I’d also go with the Daytona, checks a lot of boxes for me although I’ve given up finding one at MSRP.

I couldn’t agree more with you Connner I have the Daytona 116500 Black and just picked up the BLRO 126710 from my AD earlier in the week and it is by far my favorite. It’s an exciting watch to wear.

I think if you are looking for a generational watch, the Daytonas are a better option. They are more flexible with wardrobes and at the current price present a pretty good value (if you can purchase at retail). I did the same in February and was able to purchase a white dial Daytona for my little boy. If I had been given the opportunity, probably would have chosen the black, but didn't want to pass on the opportunity to purchase one after a short wait.

I'd go daytona, proportionally you arent paying as high of a premium at the moment. with the premium you pay for the gmt you might be able to get a used 16710!
