Full circle.

To make a long story somewhat medium long: I started collecting watches in 2008 after I turn 18. My first luxury watch was an Omega Speedmaster that I work all summer for. In the end I couldn't get over the short coming (bracelet was terrible fit, hesalite not for me, and etc. So I sold it not too long after that.

I got pretty active in collecting for the next few years after that. Fast forward to 2014, I decided to sell all my watches and focus on something else. Five really blissful years, I didn't think or care about watches. Somehow I caught the watch bug again in late 2019. At this point, I have given up on Rolex. I tried looking at other brands, none really tickle my fancy. Than 2021 happen with the Speedmaster release. It literally answer all my problems with the previous generation.

But yea.. another Speedy post, but it's my Speedmaster:

Great story, Duy! Once you're into these things there's no turning back, clearly. Acrylic crystals are nice but certainly a pain sometimes for daily use. I'm glad you managed to get your hands on the right Speedmaster for you this time around. Enjoy in good health.

Any pictures of that thing out in sunlight? One of the best Speedmaster pictures (my opinion) I've ever seen was posted by a member here a few months ago. A simple picture, seeing the piece with the setting sun on its dial from the angle was amazing.

Good call on the Sapphire version too. A lot less worries over time with daily use and the beautiful movement is on display.

I'll try capture that angle soon. I do have some more pictures:

It's the recent updated 2021 model, sapphire sandwich version. In certain lighting, it can def. look regular ole black dial, but not too stark.

For the love for the Speedy. If this watch value tank to $260 the next day, IDGAF. I'll simply pick up another one, and not look at my previous receipt ha.

That’s a great story. I see you are in NOLA. I picked up the same model Saturday from the Omega AD there. It is my first speedy and I couldn’t be happier with the watch.

Great shots, Duy! The dial certainly looks fantastic. That's the best part about getting a new watch, being able to see / experience how the dial looks in various settings. The crystal certainly makes it that much better too, an excellent combination.

Awesome, congrats on the purchase. Boudreaux's have some friendly SA over there. I actually bought my Speedy at the boutique in Dallas @ Northpark. The timing was good since I was visiting my best friend and everything just lined up that week for me.

Thank you :). Yea I'm definitely having a good time, basically my first nice watch since my long hiatus.
