The Holy Grail has arrived...

I finally broke down and did it. This past Saturday I went into the AD and bought my first Rolex. I've been lusting after this watch for the better part of a decade, and I finally found the right time in my life to make it happen.
I'm the kind of guy who normally wears one watch for several years at a time and doesn't really rotate watches based on my mood or the day of the week.
With this watch I wasn't only buying a wristwatch, I was conscientiously buying a family antique that will be passed down to the next generations, conscientiously buying an extension of myself that I will wear for the rest of my life, conscientiously buying an item to celebrate important life events which invariably add meaning to the watch, conscientiously buying it to celebrate achieving personal goals I set for myself, conscientiously buying a watch in order to make practical use of the very functions that it employs. When I wear this watch it tells a story of a lifelong love of watches, aviation, adventure and accomplishment.

This watch is priceless to me, and I'll never get rid of it! There is nothing more valuable than time. Time with loved ones, time to one's self. Time dedicated to those less fortunate and in need. It's all we have, and and I'm reminded of it every time I look at my watch.

Ok enough of the sentimental stuff... Now for the fun pics!!!
Here she is in her natural habitat!!!

Beautiful. Treasure it. I'm also a pilot, but don't fly the heavy iron. Looks great on you!

I agree with your post, 1986 being only 8 years old a Saudi Prince came to my fathers home in Golden Beach Fla. and handed my father a present when he opened it there was a Submariner 16808 all gold transition piece and on the case back it was engraved with his dedication to my father from him. When I was 19 years my stepsister stole it and it was never seen again. I felt so bad about this and my dad only owned 3 watches with the 16808 being the one he wore everyday. The Stainless steel sub prob. 16610 he only wore once in a blue moon and the Rado back and gold not often but when his 16808 was in service he wore the Rado.

So keeping something for along time has great meaning and whoever gets it next should preserve it and respect It. I also wanted to say that it is the right way to only wear one all the time that is your main piece. I wear my YM2 116688 all gold everyday and very seldom my 16610LV

As others have said perfect watch for a pilot.

That's an interesting car you have there... I don't see the steering wheel though... (kidding)
