Would you trade for a Smurf?

In these dire times, the mind tends to wander more than it should.
As such, I present to you with a small dilemma - not really, but just for the fun of it - on trading watches.

Would you trade a:
- Batman on Oyster (116710BLNR)
- SubC date (116610LN)
- Speedmaster professional on leather (which I honestly don't wear anymore anyway)

for... a used Smurf (116619LN), knowing that you would still own a 16170 Pepsi and a 5513?

It would, therefore, be my first and only PM Rolex and would effectively replace the Sub as well as add the splash of color I have with the BLNR. 2 ceramics for a single ceramic, whilst keeping the vintage (5513) and semi-vintage (16170) stuff.
Prices don't match exactly, but close enough for the sake of the thought experiment...

Curious about your thoughts.

PM is the way to go!

I would prefer a PM GMT for functionality, but if you’re a diver the PM Sub is the way to go

I would do that trade with no hesitation. Smurfs imo are pretty rare. Have not seen many in the wild and when I did see one, I thought it just stood out.

Hahaha, I am surprised that you are the first "no" response to be honest. Expected a lot of "are you crazy?"...
However -and please don't take it badly- your point is easily disqualified, as I would end up with... a GMT and a Sub (2x actually)

Yes I would do that trade. A smurf would seem more special than the other three watches. Outside the oyster GMT, the others could be replaced at a later date.

I’ve never been a fan of PM professional models, but that trade does have merit seeing as you already own some SS professionals.

Although value wised, it might seem to need all 3 to trade for the smurf, but it seems losing some key pieces in your collection. Unless you intend to also trim your collection, I would prefer to at least hold on to the batman.

My collection includes the three watches you wish to trade and I like them all. To me, the Speedmaster would be the last one to go. Too perfect of a watch. Just be careful you don't limit your collection diversity too much. You may regret it later on.

I would do the trade. The Smurf is a unique watch that is hard to source. The other watches can be replaced over time should you desire.

In general, yes, but I wouldn't trade all three. I'm not crazy about the speedy, personally, but I kinda agree with the post above to keep it. Not to mention, it's not bring much money to the table either. Just my thoughts.

Go for it,

I know somebody who traded a Batman and Hulk for a brand new Smurf (excuse nicknames if your easily offended), and they have never looked back and he's completely happy with the deal.

Your deal seems less than his trade.

Thanks for the opinions guys, much appreciated. I must say I'm a bit surprised by how many are advising to do this trade. I was expecting a much more balanced pro-con. Interesting to say the least. I also see a lot of Smurf owners are represented. Much obliged as you know best.

I might not have been clear enough in my opening post, but this was just a thought experiment for the time being. I don't plan on actually executing this trade right now - although I now definitely have a seed planted in my brain .
It's something I will very likely consider in a couple of years: consolidating the collection to 2-3 great meaningful pieces with PM in the mix for sure.
The Sub C is my current daily wear and already draws too much attention for my taste. I don't want to know how much attention this Smurf would attract. I work in the service industry and am mainly in client meetings, so I am always cautious about perception.

Regarding the Speedmaster: it was my first luxury piece, the one I got when our business first started taking off. It was a grail of mine - way back, before ever considering that there would be spendings on a watch north of a $3.000 pricepoint... oh the naivety.
Somehow, however I never 100% clicked with it. I find the case back slightly annoying, it somehow never sits perfectly on my wrist, I miss not having a date function and the dubious water resistance are all things that make me consider letting it go.
I can vividly remember the difference in "feeling" when I first stapped it on versus the first time I put on the Sub. It was night and day.
It's a terrifically designed dial though, extremely legible especially compared to a Daytona.

I've been thinking of a similar trade (RG GMT instead of Smurf) but decided I just can't let go of my BLNR, I know I would eventually regret it and getting another one for what I paid is impossible

Based on what you will have remaining I would do the trade, although I am puzzled, if you find a SS sub too attention getting why would you want a Smurf? Special occasions only?

I did the opposite trade, my smurf for two watches plus cash. I definitely regret it! So, with that said, I would do the trade, smurf had it's downside but the upside out weighed it, I really miss that watch!!
