Long term value of "swiss only" 16700
Hi everyone,
Just bought my first 16700 Swiss only (picture below). I got it from a dealer in Europe, Spain: VintageWatchCollective, while I was there. It's a nice full set, polished, but no proturing. And the watch has a nice faded serif insert. Everyone knows these were made for 2-3 years, approx. Do you think from all the 16700s and the 16710s these will be better investments in the future? Because I can't see like a clear winner from all the neovintage GMTs. Keep safe. Regards! |

It’s not an investment. It’s a watch. Wear it and enjoy it and if it’s worth more than you paid for it when your family inherits it they got lucky.
That being said, I bought a Swiss only watch because maybe in 50 yrs it will be worth more than I paid if my beneficiaries decide to sell it. It doesn’t stop me from wearing and enjoying it though. I treat it like many here treat their Seiko. Sent from my Apple privacy invasion product |

No. Every Rolex made during that period came with Swiss dials. It describes a time period and is useful for knowing if a dial is period correct, just like any other "Mk" style attribute that folks pore over.
A watch made in 98 or 99 isn't any more rare than a watch made in 96 or 97. Right now tritium 16700s are more desirable than Luminova, although it doesn't translate into any significant value plus-up

Like Radium pieces before - A rare Tritium watch will be more collectable hands down in 10-20 yrs.... already seeing it.
