Which one to go with?

Hello Guys,

I was told by the AD yesterday that they have Sub Date 116613LN in stock now while I actually prefer GMT Master 116713LN but they do not have in stock.

Should I go with Sub Date or should I wait for GMT? Could anyone here advise me which one I should go with?

Im a rookie here and my OCD is showing over making the decision of Datejust or Sub, after eliminating the GMT. I think it's going to have to be Sub, but that's me. You....best luck.

If you like the GMT

The sub won’t do anything for you

I would just order the gmt and wait

Months ago if my AD had a Sub Date next to the watch I bought I would have said good luck to the next person that walks in and buys the Sub. Get the one you really want, that's what I did and have no regrets.

GMT Master 116713LN is the watch for you

I prefer the Submariner but it is a matter of personal taste. I would skip the AD unless they are offering a significant discount and in todays market I doubt it. Look at several of the Trusted Sellers here and save big and have the watch by 1030 the day after you pay. If you really want to save then go slightly preowned and complete with box and papers and warranty. With the money you can save you can add a Speed Master or Tudor. Good luck.

Always buy what you want. In my experience, settling never has worked out in the long run.

I love my 116613LN and would not have settled for a GMT. I do love SS GMTS and currently have 2-5 digit pepsis, a 5 digit coke, a BLNR and can't wait for the new SS Pepsi. There is just something about the TT Sub that beckoned me that the GMTs wouldn't satisfy. Wait for the 1 you want. You won't regret it.

Don't settle and buy what you really want. Was in the same position a few months back and I 'settled' for an Explorer II 16570 (still an amazing watch, but it wasn't what my heart desired :) ). Eventually sold it after only 3 months to buy what I was really looking for and couldn't be more happy.

What everyone else said. Don’t settle. Wait for what you like. You settle for candy corn if your kid doesn’t have a Snickers in his/her Halloween candy. Don’t settle for a $10k watch.

Go with your gut. Even if it means you have to wait a few months.

You will be much happier that you bought what you truly wanted.

Best of luck and post pictures of the new watch once acquired!

If you know someone passing through Frankfurt airport terminal 1, I was just there last Sunday and tried on that exact GMT reference you’re looking for (TT SS/YG right, with the green hand and green GMT text?). I actually really liked it except the relatively “busier” (vs a Sub) bezel was a bit too much YG for me.

Personally, I like the Sub version of this, but that’s me.

At this price point, without question you should buy what you want. Not what is available.

I like Subs so that would be my answer but I think you answered your own question with the I prefer the GMT statement. Hold out and wait for what you really want. Should not compromise and a 10K luxury purchase.

Buy Sub and wait for GMT. You'll appreciate these two classic watches and wear them in rotation.

Go GMT all day long.

Imo the 116710LN is the most underrated SS Rolex in their whole line-up. Beautiful & timeless. I much prefer the bezel too.

I just posted this on another thread...
I bought a sub a few months ago and just sold it last week. I know it’s a classic and some will attack me for saying this but it became boring. I’m a huge GMT fan and believe it fits and looks much better than a Sub.
