Market Update: Hulk Hits 35k

So for some time now the 116610LV like many other of the ROLEX SS hot models has been steadily rising in price.

The combination of the sunburst green dial and Rolex green bezel, a combo ONLY found on the reference, make this an icon in the watch game.

It's one of the 1st hyped watches that gained serious social media traction and attention on or about 2017. Since then, it's been going crazy, with many other brands noticing and dishing out their own green dialed touch on their own popular, flagship models.

While the price point varies heavily depending on the year and condition, 2018 through 2020 warranty cards and partially stickered run you about 35k to 45k -- our very own DSW has one up for 35k. (See pic)

I think condition condition condition on this, makes up for a large part of how it's going to be priced and valued.

One of my favorite references, indeed!

The LVc DavidSW has is NOS with stickers on it. It’s absolutely a white elephant that will go into someone’s safe.

I think the Hulk will go down as the most iconic and sought after Submariner ever made by Rolex, if it hasn't already. Hell the Submariner in general is arguably the most iconic and recognizable watch ever and few would argue the Hulk has been the subject of much debate/speculation/inflation over the past 4 years and shows no signs of slowing down.

The $35k is for New Old Stock. Meaning if you buy this and wear it your gonna take a bath on resale. Its for the 1/million that want to buy it and leave it in the safe for the next 50 years. LOL

If you ask a gray dealer how much they will pay for a 2019 model in absolute MINT condition it will be way way below $30k. More closer to $25k. I have 2 to sell and asked last week several gray dealers they are all between $1k-$2k difference between the prices they give.

The bigger grays seem to give less money.

It's the same with all Rolex even steel Daytona, or OP. Grey will give you 15-30% less than market price, Some greys won't even accept to buy from you because they have loads already. Even the Tiffany OP posted here, in a couple of years when production returns to normal people who bought at ridiculous prices will get hit badly when trying to sell. Hulk may actually sustain these prices because it's discontinued, and was produced at less quantities than black Sub, and is less likely to be brought back by Rolex with the same configuration.

Not really, it’s only marginally above preowned store pricing to allow for any fees.
You won’t find them that much below the lower end Chrono24 prices.

Exactly, and that's good for who owns them now. Discontinued, small numbers cos nobody wanted them, Almost everyone who doesn't hate green wants them now, special configuration which will probably not be repeated by Rolex. The Hulk is not like the old Rolex references with jingly bracelets, which makes them feel cheap, the Hulk has a solid build, and reliable sturdy reliable tested movement.

Technically it never will. Rolex no longer make a Sub or Sub date with a 40mm fat lug case, AR coat only on the cyclops, or with the 31 series movement. Personally, I wouldn't mind full AR and a small difference in lug width is neither here or there, but I'll take a 31 any day.

Prices on C24 don't mean much. It's the trends that matter, and the trends are bonkers.

I'm sure in tens of thousands, but it's still less than a popular Panda Daytona in production from 2016, and will go on for a long time still before discontinuation. Look how much a Daytona trades now. Rolex produces in high volumes, so we are not talking a couple of thousand for any reference.

Those jingly bracelets are sat on some of the most expensive used / vintage Rolex you can buy. It doesn't make them any less solid because they're hollow.

A lot of people just don't like to wear them anymore because they got used to the solid built new ceramic Rolex. The Hulk won't ever face this problem, that's the point I wanted to make. I don't mean to dis old references. I do own two.

That's untrue. (I'll bet you enjoyed saying it, though!) Bookmark a few watches everyday, and monitor the resultant sales.

The selling price is never disclosed. Your analysis is bogus. Asking prices are not selling prices.

I was told that there were approximately 15,000 products but I suppose we will never know the truth.

Rolex last known yearly production is approx 800,000. Let's assume 10% are Subs ( Date, No date, FG, TT, etc). Then assume 50% are steel Sub date, so Sub Date is approximately 40,000 a year. I heard some say the production ratio was 7 Black Sub to 1 Hulk, that makes Hulk yearly production numbers to be around 5,000 a year. Some say it's 1:10 ratio, whatever it is 15,000 seems a bit low for ten years. Of course first 5-6 years Hulk wasn't popular, and production of total Rolex may be less than 800,000 in 2014, 2015, etc so it may be low numbers, but still 15,000 is very low for any Rolex reference.
