Question on 1675
I've searched around and can't seem to find a definite answer to my question. I'm sure TRF will come through on this one fairly easily for the GMT aficionados. Can someone tell me what would be the proper bracelet for a 1968 GMT Pepsi model 1675? Can it have an oyster bracelet with a flip lock clasp? And how does the price of $6500 sound for the piece just serviced with all boxes and papers? It has original, hands and dial and bezel. The owner never wore it much I'm told. Unfortunately I don't have pics. But I was wondering about the oyster flip lock bracelet and when I asked the watchmaker he told me it was the original, bracelet. I've got a good feeling about the watch and seller but wanted some independent and expert verification. Opinions are certainly welcome too. Many thanks guys

A US rivet or 7206 would most likely be on there. I am no expert but there are plenty here. Rich

In 1968 it could have had a Jubilee or a rivet bracelet.

The fliplock bracelet you are asking about would have to be a 9315 Oyster band. Although I don't believe that the GMT's came with the fliplock band in the late 1960's, the later sapphire GMT's could be ordered with the 93150 fliplock band as found on the Submariner. Of course a customer could have the dealer place any band he wanted on it at the time of purchase so anything could be possible.
$6500 sounds reasonable for a circa 1968 GMT based on your description. Pictures of the watch and accessories would help. Many sellers have put together missing pieces with these older watches that are incorrect for the watch package. I've seen many vintage Rolexes that are advertised with the "original box" when in fact it is incorrect. If you can get some photos on here we can help you out more.

"Bracelet: Oyster 78360, Jubilé 62510" according to: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-..._ref_1675.html
Mine is a 1968 model and has a 78360 with 558 end pieces. |

So regarding the piece I'm considering is it safe to conclude that the SS oyster band with flip lock was not original to the 1968 GMT but rather was a bracelet used on Submariners. If that is true does it render it less collectible? Should the price be less?

Again it was possible to get the Submariner bracelet in later years. |
