Boom ! Clap !!

So I finally got one sealed and to be quiet honest, I'm moderately underwhelmed. Not sure why they are in such demand as my 5167 is a better go to piece IMO. Anyway, not sure if I gong to keep it or flip it at this point. Cheers.

While the 5711 is a beautiful piece, I agree that the 5167 is a significantly more interesting piece... It came down to a 5711 or a 5167 for me; I chose the 5167.

Feel free to unload it this way ;-)

Give it time, it's a refined watch with a matchless feel on the wrist. If anything, it's the aqua that sometimes draws yawns initially.

Congrats . There's a lot of hype with the 5711 so it has a lot to live up to. Give it time and I'm sure you will grow to love it.

Take the watch out of the plastic and you will witness the true beauty of that amazing dial.

Thanks all. Even though it's sealed I can tell based on past experience that I'm not going to like it. Easier to sell when sealed.

I have had both and they both really are amazing pieces. Overall, I much prefer the 5711.

hmm... I don't get it. If you already know even without trying it on that you don't like it, why did you buy it at all just to flip it right away? There are so many collectors out there waiting for one that there was certainly someone on the waiting list behind you who had been happy to buy it.

I think it is beautiful. I think they are a lot of $ for a SS watch but it is a PP.

Not sure why you bought it if it did not knock your socks off. Unless you got enough of a discount to make some $ on it selling at market price.

I agree with you. I think you should absolutely love a watch that carries the price tag of a 5711 - not HOPE that it grows on you.

I think you are making the right move to keep it sealed, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a buyer.

Good pick up, but I vastly prefer the 5167 over the 5711 and 15202.

I would say Big congratulations on getting that watch!
I think its possible that a watch can grow on you.
Not all marriages begin with love at first sight. Sometimes its a growing friendship that develops into a deep love over time.
And sometimes it is love at first sight.
Based on everything I have read about the 5711, it's money in the bank, so I would say give it a chance. If after a couple months it is still not moving you, at least you know you your tried and experienced a legendary piece of Horology history AND you can sell it easily for $25K even used. Just my opinion.

I personally love the 5711 on the bracelet and think the 5167 is to boring on that rubber strap.

At least get it out and in the sun and see. Even unsealed you will have no problem getting a great price.

hhhmmm. bummer you don't love it. a low probability event. im the opposite of one of the other posters

5711>15202 (just barely) - then 5167 a distant third. had the trifecta and moved the 5167. its amazing dial wasn't enough to give it satying power for me

5711 has to be worn to be appreciated. It's not a traditionally good looking watch, but it all makes sense on the wrist.

It's one of my favorites but as others have said, it's too expensive to have if you don't love it

Ok, I'm going to make an admission now. On 2 occasions within the past year I walked into an AD wearing my 5167. First occasion AD had 5711 blue dial. Second occasion AD had 5711 white dial. Passed both times - my Aquanaut sang louder to me. That was the true test for me. End of story.
