Big, Bad, Blue
I just completed a trade that would probably make most TRFers head pop, but it ended with an Ultra Deep Summer Blue to me. It's big, it's bad, and just enough blue. No doubt this is not a watch for the dainty, but I'm macho enough to wield such and instrument. Fairly certain this thing could be used in a self defense situation as a bludgeoning tool.
My wrist is right at 7.5 so lug to lug this is not bad, the real dimension of note is the thickness. At 6'4" it works for me, YMMV. Net result, I like this a lot. While big it is proportional, and just a touch of color. |

That’s a hockey puck. …but a really cool hockey puck!
My girly-man wrists would never let me pull that one off.

I’d end up with my left arm longer than the right in about two weeks.
But like the old Seamaster 1000, this thing is just bad-ass. |

Congratulations! This is a great choice you made, I really like this piece. The regular Ultra Deep is neat, but the dial details and anniversary connection make this the best Ultra Deep in my opinion.

Nice! Looks great and sits well on your wrist.
The dial and bezel work really well together - great pick up. We're same height and wrist size so perfect shot for me. Is it top heavy at all? |

Thanks. It is no doubt a heavy watch....top heavy? Eh, not really too bad. I think that is also a function of fit on the wrist and so far I feel like I have the fit just right. Just enough slack for it to move a little, but not float or swing. Pics for weight comparison UD vs YG Sub. UD 242, YGSub 228.

Saw one at a Boutique a couple weeks ago and loved it. Great looking watch and truly one of the coolest watches in existence. Did you put a black light on it to view the easter egg?
Congrats on the watch! |

I sure did. The only one i had available was very small pen light that was part of some spy kit that my 10yr old daughter has. It was enough to see the trench and the "Omega was here." Cool.....and my daughter thinks I'm cool because I used the spy pen.

I love how the watch and the easter egg is sort of a slap at Rolex as Omega managed to find a pocket of the mariana trench 8 meters deeper than where James Cameron ended up just so they could say their watch OFFICIALLY went to the deepest point on the planet.

Best part is that this Omega has undergone "wart removal".

8 f***ing metres at that depth. Big deal. Maybe they rammed it right home by timing the arrival at the bottom to precisely coincide with high tide. Yeah, that'll f**kem. The Rolex Deepsea challenge watch which is available(sort of) at your local Rolex dealer(even to Omega fanboys) sort of kisses off the Omega Ultra Deep though. Doesn't it? Besides, when we factor in the +25% test pressure of the depth rating, the point is utterly mute. 8 metres. I suppose Omega might be able to scrounge up enough bits of scrap/offcuts of Titanium from the making of the submersible to cobble together a few examples of a Challenger watch that could go up against the commercially available Rolex But Omega will never have the RINGLOCK |

I prefer this over the DSSD to be honest, and it has nothing to do with 8 meters. Neither watch is the same as the ones that went down the trench anyway, so it's really just personal preference. |

So I’m basically a week into this deal. Generally speaking, I’m not a bigasswatch type of dude. But I am somewhat surprised by how well this monster wears for its size. Big? Yes, by every metric. Unruly? Not really, not unsightly. Really a great pro watch. Very happy with this trade situation.
