Who 'Isn't Crazy' About the New GMTII-C?
Hi Guys/Gals,
Seems like lots of you are trying to get your hands (or have already) on the new ceramic GMTII. I'd love to try one on but have yet to find one at an AD With all the hype, are any one of you just not crazy about it? Prefer the 'old' classic styling more? Would love to hear your thoughts! |

Hi Karis. I have mixed feelings about it. I have tried it on and my 2 cents are:
-LOVE the solid center links -LOVE the ceramic bezel -I do not care about the maxi dial -I like the 'old' case better ...but once again, everyone's got a different taste. Some of us like wine and a nice cigar and others....well.....sheep. Cheers! |

Hey................
That makes two of us.. And it's not the technology, or the idea of a ceramic bezel.... I just can't get past the block case and the outsized numbers and size of the new insert..

Karis, in fact I am not too fond of my SS GMT IIc. It has never really grown on me. I don't care too much for the shiny centre links, and the ceramic bezel is a bit too blingy/shiny for my liking, too.
I would like to sell it here, but the Danish is too high compared to the US MSRP.

Me and Allan! The 16710 has some great features not found on the new GMT IIc. It will remain close to the hearts of many Rolex fans.
The GMT IIc has some great upgrades, no doubt. But I still prefer the classic.............................for now anyway! dP

I like the looks but don't care how the bezel works, not user friendly IMO. Like the old style better.

I don't like the shape of the case, ceramic bezel, maxi-dial, polished center links...I guess I don't like the watch. However, rolex got it right on the new case for Datejust and Airking. I'm hoping they do the same for the Explorer I and leave the center-links brushed. I'd buy one to go with my new Explorer II.

I absolutely love mine. I love mine so much that it's gotten my mind off the Daytona for the most part.
I've never really differentiated a watch on whether or not it's considered a "tool" watch, so I don't mind the polished center links, etc. I really like the look of the ceramic bezel, the black face, and the soothing green GMT hand. |

I like the new ceramic after the centerlinks have been brushed.

There's something akward about the shape of the case. Nothing against the concept of a big GMT, but the increase in size doesn't appear proportional. The bracelet is far too skinny and makes the watch appear boxy and 'dare I say' a bit dorky (ok - so I might be pushing it). I really want to like it, the ceramic is cool, love the maxi-dial green gmt hand combination, but something's just a little off. I hope the new versions of the Sub/SD won't be so squatty looking.

I am not huge wristed so I'm not all that enthralled with the new GMT. The primary reason I bought my 16710 was the comfort. It's just enough lighter and flatter than the Sub to wear significantly different. For me, a heavier, blockier and larger appearing watch is moving in the wrong direction. I don't even like the new lug profile on the 36mm series watches. Just me...

http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/IMG_3861.jpg I prefer the classic look in the older GMTs.

I'm in the same camp as Allan, Dan, and Larry. I don't like the GMT-IIc. I can't get used to the green 24 hour hand. It only grows on me like a fungus.
There's only one GMT-II for me - the all black SS. They just don't come any better.

I'm not a fan for pretty much all the previously stated reasons so I won't repeat them. The big yellow numbers on the T/T version really looks bad imho.
