Names

Hi

My wife and I are having our first child in November. We know its a boy but at this point we still have not chosen a name.

Just wondering if I could get some input from you guys. What names do you like? Maybe I can come across something that we have not thought of.

Thank you so very much
Colin

I just had 2 twin girls a few months ago.

My wife, and I spent many evenings picking out names. I enjoyed looking through our family tree for some ideas. We had to alter them a little for current times, but I think we did fine. Plus, they will have a little connection to the past.

Melanie Renae
Katie Denae
Kelli Ann

I also liked

Tiffany, but my wife disliked a girl in high school, and hated the name.

As far as the boy name?

I have some Cherokee Indian a few generations back. My Great Great grandmother was Mourning Star, and her dad was just "Asa"

Strange names in modern times

Careful with Jake. Every 4th kid I see today is named Jake, and their are several in each of my kids classes. Ditto for Lucas (Luke).

I would go with Satchel.

Dylan. That's my sons name. Or Buster. It used to be a fairly common name and now no one has it.

All good suggestions!

With regards to 'Jake' I know what you are saying. Its hard to find a name that isn't popular these days.

Here are some we have narrowed it down to:

Charles
Issac
Rowan
Gabriel
Greyson
Elliot

Kind of leaning towards Greyson

How about Jib?
or maybe Kazushi?
or maybe Saku?

Guaranteed not to run into anyone else this side of the world with those names.

First of all, a big congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife and I just had our first five days ago. Take the baby book names and immediately throw them in the trash!!! I'm a firm believer that a name should mean something to you and your wife. Disregard any trendy names or the flavor of the month. Remember the name will be theirs long after you're gone so go with something that won't sound goofy 20 years from now. If it's a girl, please no stripper names. If it's a boy something that shows strength and isn't too uncommon. We named our son John (After my wife's dad) Alden (After our ancestor from the Mayflower) and our last name. Family last names can make nice middle names. I'm William Brooks(mom's maiden name). I'd also skip the names that sound one way, and then spelled differently. My dad was a Jr and always hated it. He felt that everybody is entitled to their own name, hence I'm not the III. Best of luck with the name and the birth, let us know how it all turns out!!

Good choices.
We named our son Ethan. My wife chose it because it cannot be shortened and added a Y to the end - ie Billy, Marky, Joey... you understand.
Also Ethan means Strong, Firm, Impetuous.
I like that there are not 20 other kids named Ethan in his grade at school and it's a name he can carry well as an adult.
