Expecting
Just placed an order w/ Classic Fountain Pens/John Mottishaw for a Nakaya 'long cigar' in kuro-tamenuri with a medium ruthenium plated nib.
Very excited...going to be hard to wait 'til it arrives late next week. Will try to stay

It just arrived...playing with it now. Will post pix soon, but I must say it is quite elegant and writes like a dream.
You guys have gotten me hooked damn it! More later.

Congrats Vic. John's nib work is legendary. Have you asked him to customise it? That would add a bit of flair to your writing.

Thanks Kai! No customization on this one (but he did 'tune' it for me)...no idea what I would get- but maybe the next one. 'Cause I can already tell you that I'll almost certainly be getting another Nakaya....Maybe an 'Ascending Dragon' in heki-tamenuri, that really caught my eye.
So without further delay, the striptease. I know my handwriting doesn't do justice to a pen like this, but if any of you guys get a chance- try one. I'm sold. No skipping or anything other than juicy writing with basically zero pressure. It's something else...

A juicy nib with no skipping - You gotta love that
Looks cool too and yes it will be interesting to see how it ages. How do you find the width of the nib? I got a broad and am sorry to say I found it too fine for my liking. I now use Montblanc BBB

I'd say that (for me) the medium is on the broader side of what I want. In fact I was already contemplating a 'fine extra flexible' for the next one. Given the style (or lack of) of my writing, I prefer a finer point. I think the Nakaya medium is similar to but slightly broader than my Monteverde fine. It's also just much wetter, so that may be coloring my perception of the 'broadness' of the nib.
I'd say that the ink flow is probably a 5 or 6 out of 10...juicy, but not too much so. When I wrote in my journal it didn't bleed or feather much, but I could see the sheen of the wet ink yet it was dry almost immediately. In my lab notebook (less absorbent paper) it still dried very quickly and was still smooth. So, for me, this ink flow is nearly perfect- smooth & even without being too wet. For me the broad would be too much. Would you post a quick sample of your Nakaya broad alongside your MB BBB?

If I can post mine, so can you. (meaning, your writing can't look any worse than mine)
