Vintage with family history

I know this is an Omega in the vintage Rolex section but I figured the vintage guys could help me with this more than the Omega forum. Feel free to move if you must.

I thought I would share some pictures of my Omega Automatic that was given to me by my mom recently. She and my stepfather raised me from the time I was 10 until I left for college.

My stepfather passed away from cancer this year and the watch was given to him by his father who got it for 25 years of service. On the back it reads" presented to D.L Christian 25 years of loyal service. Union camp corporation 1973

It's my first Omega and I'm not really sure what to do with it. Surprisingly, it is running pretty good within 30 seconds a day. I doubt its ever been serviced.

I will never sell it but I am considering having it serviced and sourcing a nice leather band for it. I'm trying to find out if it is real gold or not.

The caseback is stamped 166.070

Hi Matt! Great watch, I would definitely get it overhauled. It looks real, and it's gold capped/filled. The number on the caseback is the model number.

Wow! What a gorgeous watch! Put it on a nice brown leather strap, it'd stand out for sure! I have an old Lanco dress watch, it gets mistaken for an Omega all the time, it had a stretch gold bracelet like yours on it, I switched it to leather. It looks even better now!

These vintage Omegas are beautiful and have a classic look.

Omega actually maintains a database of vintage models on their site, and you cantry searching there for your watch. Here's the link

If I understand the instructions right, you need to enter your model number 166.070 or add a zero to it ...... 166.0070.

Match up the movement calibre number and other spec info with your watch when you get results to check if you got the right match.

Beautiful watch!!! Get it serviced and lose that non original hair puller band!!!!! I have a slew of vintage Omegas and they make a great dress watch.

A stainless caseback almost always means that the watch is gold plate, gold capped, etc. I'd get it serviced and polished by a local, competent watch tech. It will clean up beautifully. Then add a gator/croc strap. For a bit more affordable option, you might look at teju lizard.

What size strap does this watch take? 18mm?

Looks great matt, and cleaned up it'll be a fantastic watch with deep sentimental value.
