Should probably move this thread to the non-Rolex watch forum. JLC makes a number of great GMTs.

How about the GMT 16700? I much prefer this watch over the GMT II 16710.

breitling just starting making their B01 line with a GMT - I love it!
for the money - I think the best is the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial

of course, there are several great panerai models with GMT -

There are many GMTs and UTC style of watches, but IMHO, for someone who actually uses a GMT watch for traveling between timezones, there's nothing better than the jumping hour hand. For me, that narrows the field to the GMT II, the Explorer II, and SMP GMT. Also, not called "GMT" watches, but the cal. 8500 from Omega has the jumping hour hand feature and can easily be used in the fashion I described.

This is interesting. I agree the jumping hour hand is very useful, and assumed that all the watches being touted as better than the Rolex GMT obviously had this function, but it doesn't sound like they do.

I'm not aware of any others that have this function, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. In fact, I'd love to know. IMHO, it's one of the most useful complications for someone who travels between timezones. Changing the time becomes SO easy. I made a youtube vid a while ago that shows how it works on my GMT...same as the Rolex GMT IIs work (a few minutes into the vid)...http://youtu.be/4l5AeTeaHIo

IMO Without doubt the best and most ergonomic GMT watch ever designed
The +- GMT by U N . Designed by the genius Ludwig Oeschlin The whole mechanism is wheel rather than lever based. The home time is set in the 9.00 window, The hour hand can be moved back and forth by the + - buttons on the left side. Time adjustment of the hour hand integrates with date. If you advance or retard past midnight the date moves with it, like the hour hand on a Rolex GMT. Besides all that it is a fabulous big date watch as well.

This is mine

This. The GMT hand is hidden under the hour hand -- I only bring it out when traveling.

x1 on the 233. Absolutely love my Panerai 233. I also think the JLC master compressor GMT is a beautifully executed watch.
