1968 GMT Pepsi

Hey Folks!

looking at this piece and want to make sure everyone aproves before i go and meet to see it.

I want to know if it looks all orignal and period. The ad says its all original but i am unsure of what could be aftermarket or refinished etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and a price range for this would be great. It will/would be my first GMT and i know there are a bunch of GMT "masters" that can help.

thanks in advance!!!!

Nick H

I am by no means a vintage expert but I think it looks really cool!!!

I'm sure an expert can really answer your questions shortly.

Thanks! So do I but people can make them look cool vs. them becoming "cool" over the years

Not an expert but I think it looks good. It's good that it still has the rivet bracelet and the fat font bracelet, and the sharp case leads me to believe that it hasn't been messed around with.

I have a 68 gimme an hour and I'll look more closely. Initial view is spot on. Dial is MK1 which is correct. Insert is fat font which is correct. Lugs look thick on my phone but I need a better look. Braclet is my weak point. I know it's supposed to be a 7206 rivet but not sure about clasp.

For a 1968 model it looks all correct, fat font insert, 7206 rivet, mark 1 dial, hands, etc. Also, looks like a pretty nice example, thick case, all original. Lastly, the only issue I really see, which is a cosmetic issue, the hands dont match exactly, but that is to be expected from a watch this age

Ok, everything looks good except the date wheel looks rather white. It should be a silver date wheel. Some date wheels look white in pictures like mine does but the only way to tell is a visual inspection. You need to crack it open though and make sure the movement is good.

Looks good to me. Make sure wheel date and bracelet are ok, if so this is a nice piece. I hope you can get it at usd4000, it'd be a super good price!

One of the lugs shown has a nice bevel - how are the others? Crown guards look nice and thick.

$3500! I haven't seen a decent 1675 at $3500 to $4000 forever. Maybe some of the dealers are stealing them at shows for these prices, but nice GMT 1675's are way past $4000.

Agreed! Much closer to $5K for a nice, all-original example. (Took me a year to find my 5-mil. version.)

Just curious - what kind of place had the piece?

Would have been a great pickup.

Nick, if you can buy a nice 1675 under $4000 - jump on it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time-to-Go has a 1978/79 vintage GMT for sale now in the classifieds for $3500 (head only). It's a great price from a very solid forum member.

Thanks I will look into it. I am going to call the buyer tomorrow and hope he's having some remorse? I can only hope!!! I saw the ad in the paper for an estate sale. So I called and asked if they could email some photos. It was a grandson selling his grandfathers watch.

That explains the low price then. Good luck.
