Getting my first Panerai!

Hey guys!

I am looking to pick up a Panerai in the next week or so.

Just looking around a little at different models.

I currently have a rolex Daytona SS white and a Sub date.

I am leaning towards the 111 but was wondering what other models would be worth considering as a first!

Thanks for any info.

Can't go wrong with either a 111, 112, 000 or 005.

Depends if your bothered about the exhibition back. The 111 and 112 both have sapphire exhibition back. 111 and 005 have sub seconds hand at 9 position, 005 with the OP logo too whereas the 112 and 000 are both Bases, no seconds hand. 000 having the OP logo too.

IMO if exhibition back isn't a priority get a Base 000!

111 would make a perfect first PAM.

Let us know what you decide.

Congrats in advance

111 is a good choice, I considered that one as well as the PAM 005 and the 177.

I just went through the same process of deciding on my first PAM and after much consideration and research ended up going with the classic 000. It seems to be the most obvious Panerai "starter watch" with the best blend of history, substance, and style, IMHO. If you want a killer deal, contact pledge member dra144. His service was top notch and his pricing was the best I have found anywhere.

111 is a great PAM, if you want a manual wind

Just be aware the the movement does not hack i.e. keeps running when you pull out the crown to set the time

My old one...

111 is a great choice, its my first too. Basically you cant go wrong with any manual historic case PAM. But remember, it will not be your last. Happy hunting.

I was doing 111 vs 005 comparison and decided on 005 because of the logo.

I love the back case of 111 but once you wear it or when it's sitting on the show box, the back case is not seen anyways. Thinking to get a 312 for my 2nd pam :D

Nice! I had the 111 and then picked up the 005. I preferred the steel back... It felt lighter and less concern about water resistance. Oh, then picked up the 312.

You really can't go wrong with either. I like the logo dial of the 005, but the 111 sandwich. Also, while exhibition backs are nice - I prefer something a little more solid, like steel.

111 was my first PAM, I loved it but am too lazy for the manual wind. Just picked up a 351 so time to sell the 111.

Can't go wrong with the base & entry models

000, 005, 111 & 112 are always good for a start!

If you care about in-house movement then 312 is good!

Ahh very nice. 351 is the tobacco dial version of 312 yea? Or are there any other differences?

The 351 has the tobacco dial, gold hands, and titanium case in contrast to the 312 which has the black dial, black hands, and stainless steel case. Both watches, share the same movement. Hope this helps.

That definitely helps, buddy.

Titanium case makes it much more attractive to me..
351 is now on the wish list :)
