Buying Advice: DATEJUST 18KT GOLD AND SS
Hi,
I am looking for an used Rolex and looked this up on craigslist. The seller lives in the next town and is willing to meet at any Jewelers to authenticate. He has listed for $1600 firm. I am just wondering if this watch is worth it. He sent me a picture which I am attaching. I am a newbie so please ignore my ignorance with swiss timepieces. |

I could tell you exactly on the dime what it would sell for in a few years but my crystal ball is in the shop for the moment.

If it is real, it is actually a great deal. You could probably sell for almost double easily which makes me worry about your seller.
With watches like that, they may be real, but they also may be stolen. Or he could be posting a pic of a real watch that he doesn't have. Make sure to meet in a place where you are safe, a police station, bank or less so, a Starbucks. |

I'm not sure I agree: there are a great many of these TTs available right now and TT isn't super hot. 1600 is about what it's worth in good working order. If my expert autheticated the watch pictured, I still wouldn't pay more than 1350: massively stretched band, scratches, etc. Sadly, this is where the price has been for quite a few years: the only reason it will increase will be devaluation or inflation of the currency.

In my opinion I wouldn't- the price is good sure but you will need to factor in servicing and polish and the bracelet looks pretty stretched

Resale is about that price. I would see if you could get $1300. Flip for a quick 200-300 or just enjoy it.
Assuming its an 1601 DJ? |

thank you all for the input folks! The guy doesn't budge and is firm on 1600 so I am going to have to let this one go. And yes the band did look pretty stretched.
