1665 white + 9315 folded bracelet?

Ok friends,

I thought I had this one put to bed in my own mind. I've done my searches and my own research, but can't completely confirm nor deny.

Did the very early 1665 great whites (early 5 mil) come with 9315 / 380 folded link bracelets?

I've seen some examples that were "complete" and unserviced with this combination, again for the early mk1 dials / early 5 mil.

From my research, I believe the answer is yes. I've found anecdotal information stating they came this way from Rolex Canada, for example. I've also found some evidence the jewelers would swap out the newer bracelets for the older folded link variants (cheaper)!

Note: anything "official" from Rolex will say the later 93150 and 580/585 end links.

Thoughts?!

Cheers!

Yes, to my knowledge some very early white 1665's (early 5mil range) came from the factory with 9315's.

Great collection Steve!

My Mk 1 1665 with mid 5mil serial no. came with a VB stamped 93150 bracelet which I was led to believe was original to the watch. I have also seen pictures of a 77 DRSD Mk 4 with an A stamped 93150 which is alleged to be original. As already been said with Rolex anything is possible.

Thank you very much, cdweller. It taken quite a bit of hunting to find them. Very few vintage watches are perfect, but I've been pretty picky about these. They each have their flaws, but character is what I expect in vintage. I hope to keep each of them for a long time, but one could leave if the right double red comes along. :)
