Patek 5726A?

Spent some time today with this:

Loving it... Can't get it out of my mind...

I had been considering a rolex skydweller but you just can't compare. The 5726 is far ahead with the moon phase, day display, clear caseback, extra strap included (to name a few advantages)...

Thoughts?

Wait for the 5960/1A to make sure I won't have any regrets?

Thanks much.

I love the 5726a...thinking about getting one myself. I think it's a perfect daily wearer for me...not too dressy, not too sporty. It's right down the middle, so perfect for my line of work.

I too am waiting to see the 5960/1A before I decide on anything else! No regrets!

I think the 5726 is a very nice watch, but your photo shows one of the niggles I have with it (and my 5980 for that matter) - in certain light I think the dial looks a bit washed out. As the 5960 is on your radar I think you've got to wait until you've seen it to make sure you make the right decision.

Very nice watch Thomas and me not liking the SkyD at all says look no further. I also have to say I prefer the 5980 and 5960 so would say make sure you compare all and pick the one which is right for you. Cheers,

Yes, thanks. It certainly checked a lot of my boxes as well.

Yes. I don't know if I'll like the bracelet on the 5960 but maybe in person it will win me over. Thanks.

Thanks much. Hadn't considered the dial looking off as you say but a good point. I should try and see it in different lighting conditions. The only issue with the 5960 is who knows how long I'll have to wait before it arrives here! Anyway, waiting is probably the smarter decision though.

Thanks Ken. I would very much like to see the 5960a first as this will be a big decision. What do you think of the bracelet on the 5960a? Not sure I like it from the pictures I've seen at least. Waiting I suppose is best, but I'm not known for my patience!

Thomas: I actually like the bracelet and the watch has grown on me. If I didn't own one in platinum and was looking for a SS one I would gladly get one as it is hot IMHO!

5960 would be my pick but either are nice watches (and better than a SkyDweller to me by some margin). I like the Nautilus in there most simple basic original form, I don't own one but if did it would be the original basic design without complications, if i wanted a calendar and moonphase i would go with a Patek that started out that way just my personal opinion.

The best dials for the 5960 were the grey and the blue on the platinum ones, IMO of course.

As far as I know the white dial is the only one for the 5960/1a at this point, meaning the best dials are yet to come, haha.

Kinda like how the YG & WG ones come 1st and are followed by RG.

I have a 5960/1A on order with my AD and also I own a 5146. Hard to disagree with Patek for annual calendars no matter which model.

I'm still thinking/hoping the 5960/1A will not be readily available as steel complicated Pateks other than Nautilus are normally rare.

I see someone wearing it right now at the restaurant we're at. It's my first Patek sighting! Pictures never did it for me, but it looks amazing in person. You should definitely get one.

Nautilus 5711 1A blue has long wait list! My AD who is very big AD only get 1 or so per year and they have a 3 person wait list. Patek doesn't make many of them and has purposely limit supply.

I imagine the 5712/1a are somewhat easier to get as they have a higher profit, that's why the gold ones are easier to get.

Yes, that's true but it's also not complicated The white dial is available easily, I've seen them sitting in the case.

I saw the interview with Mr. Stern where he talked about being able to sell way more blue dial Nautilus if he made them. Since it's classic who knows if they'll ever discontinue them but imagine if they did!

I'm not sure you can purchase the bracelet separately for the strap version - think it fits differently

I looked into it. Bracelet won't fit the leather model. You could swap the bracelet for the strap if you can get the plot endlinks (different size from bracelet).

Actually, yes you can convert a 5712/1A to strap IF you can source the endlink. Near impossible though.

I think this is the same for UK AD's who also only get one a year.
