New beater...

I'd been looking for a beater pen to carry in my pocket when out running errands or what have you. I thought about the Montblanc M but after finding out about its drawbacks I settled for this new so-called PIX, roller-ball. After all, I have a bagful of refills for that pen: roller-balls as well as felt-tips.

Previously my "beater" pens have been a Caran with Parker gel refill, a Cross roller-ball with my daughter's college logo, or a Pelikan with Parker gel refill. I'll be using the PIX for awhile until I get tired of having to pull the cap off, I guess.

The pen is light, ever slightly long, and the cap fits the barrel rather flimsily. It looks OK, nothing spectacular, and it feels like good old plastic. I must confess right here that I'm not a big fan of Montblanc. They have a place in pen history but that's about it. I guess an advantage is that you can get them new for about half of the suggested retail price.

That is an awfully nice "beater"!

My compliments!

I have bad visions of "beaters" in general. I prefer "daily drivers". A nice pen well cared for but also well used.

The "Pix" is the most recent iteration of the design Montblanc introduced back in 1959 IIRC as the replacement for all the cigar shaped pens when all but the 149 were discontinued.
