5711/1a availability

Lately I've been considering to add a 5711/1a to my collection. But living in Australia, our lack of ss models from rolex's to pp's are very very limited so I was thinking of getting it overseas when I travel, most likely hong kong or europe or britain. But my friend in hong kong informed me that even in hong kong, where the selection is astounding, it will still be a little difficult to locate one at an AD. So I was wondering what the availability of the 5711/1a model is in other countries. Thanks

Parallel importers in HK can get one for you, but you'll have to give them a couple of weeks lead time. If you want your name on the certificate, they would normally require a 20% deposit before ordering.
In Manila however, it usually takes a year or two depending on the reservation list.

DavidSW has had a sealed one available for a few weeks now. He's asking $28,575, which is 15% above list. It's on his website.

It really depends on the relations you have with the AD, i have 2 not so hard to find incomings, and am on a good place on lists for harder to get pieces, I would not be on them without the 2 first, and if yes would clearly not have the great spots I have, so quite happy about this, in France 3 out of the 4 would be impossible to get

I have a deposit on one in NZ and have been hassling our AUS ads every few weeks for the last 6 months. Apparently I'm getting towards the end of the wait, but still difficult.

Wow, when I think I will get mine with 8% off the swiss retail, tax free, not my AD discount

How much has the Swiss Franc appreciated against the EUR and other currencies the last year? 8%?

Interesting. Is there any benefit to getting your name on the certificate? My first Patek has my name and address. When I buy the next one I will probably just put my name on it or leave it blank.

In case I sell it - I don't want the next buyer knowing where I live!! Lol

No benefits really, but if it is for keeps, I'd prefer my name on the certificate.
By the way, how's the inventory of 5711's (& 5712's) in SG ADs? I have friends who were able to get theirs there not too long ago.

Actually, the parallel importers who I have talked during my recent visit (last March) are selling at MSRP, the 20% down payment is a deposit and not the mark up they are charging. They must have connections in Europe where they have discounts and tax rebates, thus they can pass it at MSRP.

I may be mistaken but I always was under the impression that PP is always quick to adjust non swiss prices to level out any price difference compared to the CHF list prices.
Patek prices are normally always based and indexed on the swiss franc.

This is what resulted in the patek pricing debacle in 2015. I think they learnt their lesson, but they still have it as one of their aims to try and offer the best pricing in their home market. Many swiss products are sold cheaper abroad than at home and this is irritating more and more locals (swiss), who feel they are being taken advantage of, losing more and more sympathy and pride in their "own" companies.

So far there have not been any price adjustments yet that I am aware of.
This means that indeed there might now be good opportunities to make use of some price disparity on account of exchange rates.

If anybody can confirm or deny this please do so.

Kari, do you happen to have a uk price list, or has one already been published anywhere?

Thx

And btw there is a 5711 waitlist here too but it depends where and which AD you go to:
Forget the patek salon in geneva if you are not a major buyer there. Try smaller ADs and you may be pleasantly surprised. I know one in Davos whose waitlist is topping out at 1-1.5yrs for the time being.

I do have the 2015 UK price list and there is no change to 2016 except the new Baselworkd additions. There is no printed 2016 list...wonder why??? UK prices now significantly cheaper than rest of the world. In fact the drop in HK, Chinese and South Korea has been made up by at least a 15% increase in UK sales! This is not UK based buyers but those from overseas like myself! Prices going up is better than going down. Think if the guy buying a 5170 the day before prices dropped 10%!! Brace yourself... There is a UK price increase heading it's way!! I am hoping not!! I gave a few things in the shopping cart awaiting delivery and I prefer certainty in pricing! I have paid for sone and awaiting delivery but others I am open to price and currency movements!

Pretty long waiting lists for the 5712. I've not been searching for the 5711 so can't comment on their wait list. However, none of the ADs have them in stock at the moment.

I don't know if I'm super lucky or what, but I just got a 5711 and it wasn't really that hard. I was inquiring with my AD and she said she could get it in normally about 3-6 mos. So I ordered one from her, put down a deposit and everything. She told me she ordered with the PP rep and was told it would arrive around the fall. I got the call 2 days ago, it arrived in only about 30 days! Actually, looking at the receipt, I ordered on May 17. Got it on June 24! I was shocked and obviously ecstatic to say the least. I'll start another incoming thread about it shortly. So they can be obtained. I guess it depends on the AD.

I got my 5712a from Singapore and waited about 10months, no deposit was made. it was my first Patek Philippe purchased from the store and happy it was a nautilus. I have been their client for Rolex watches in the past. il say its not easy to find one on a whim but it can be done less than a year. goodluck.

No, not Shreve. They said it's practically impossible to get. They only get a few per year and as I'm not a super big customer of theirs... I actually brought it in to them to resize for me. The sales guy said he rarely sees one, only on customers. He was shocked I could get one so quickly. I got it from an AD I bought several Rolexes from. They are in another state.

Congrats on your incoming, that was quick. However I suspect that you´ve got a watch that was originally intended for another customer - you were lucky. I´m not sure how PP handles the ordering process in the US but if it´s the same as in Europe the watches are allocated to the ADs by PP. The AD can´t simply order another blue 5711 if he feels like it.

My AD has never sold me a Patek with blank papers, they always put my name right away, i think its part of the agreement of being an AD for Patek; but hey if yours is letting you buy it without a name on it, I will definitely choose that for a lot of reasons.

Cheers !!

The main benefit is that you're in the Patek registry as the original owner; if you consider that to be a benefit.

Yeah I have never seen a blue dial model there and I have been a good customer for about 5 years.
