Platona, AP 15202OR, or PP 5980R on bracelet

Hello gents, I’m contemplating my next acquisition as one of those mentioned above.

Current collections is follows:

DD2 RG
DD40 Plat
Sky dweller WG Black dial on bracelet
AP 15300 SS white dial

I am missing a chono but the blue dial in the 15200 is very appealing. If I go with the Platona, I’m undecided whether to go with baguette dial or not. The PP seems a little less timeless than the other choices, perhaps because it seems chunky proportionally.

Thoughts?

Lots of great choices. I like the 5980r or 5711/1r the most of those.

I get my Platinum DD40 soon. From your list i would take Platona with baquette dial just because my friends Patek Philippes wear them and not vice versa :)

I'd swap out the 15300 and DD2 and get the 15202OR, since its superior to both imho. Then choose one of the chronos, I like the platona.

Could make for the perfect grand trio. Ever think about selling your entire current lot and getting all three?
If only one, I'd go 15202r. Just look at all of Ken's drool worthy shots if you need a push.

I would get the Platinum Daytona with the diamond dial. A beautiful watch and in line with your collection. It can also be sourced with a significant discount.

15202 is a finicky expensive to service watch. I’d go with a PP over it. The 15202 is a classic though

A PM AP, PP and Rolex is a great trio.

It’s $1,100 for a service which is similar to what a 5980R would cost. Yes I have one and have owned in SS as well and also have a lot of experience with APSC.

Ken, beautiful watch! Is yours YG or RG? Hard to tell in that picture.

I’m leaning towards the AP, in large part due to your great pictures.

Does anyone have any input on the current market for BNIB 15202OR? I believe the Platona BNIB can be found in the low 50s, right?

Thanks!

It is RG thanks. As for current market there aren’t many around right now. None used anywhere and most AD’s don’t have. You are likely looking at $40K new with a 20% discount from AD. At least that’s what they were a while back when things weren’t as tight as they have become since leadership change here.

There's a lot of rubbish spouted by people regarding the "delicateness" of AP movements (they're more than robust enough for everyday wear), and the cost of servicing (surprisingly cheap) particularly when you spread it across 5 years. Call it 60c/day - less than you spend at Starbucks for sure!
