Ever-day Driving Hates.

I thought I would list some real driving niggles that cause my temperature to rise and boil my p!s#

1. Those b@st@rds that wait at the lights all the time they are red and then as they turn green they ‘remember’ they are turning right and THEN put their bleeding indicators on.

2. Then there are those sad a#s#oles that arrive at a traffic queue that has just turned green, and sail calmly up the empty turn left only lane. Force their way into the front and make everyone stop again whilst they barely slowed.

3. Middle lane cruisers on motorways.

4. Those that laugh at you queueing as they glide past illegally in the bus lane that I have never ever seen a bus in.

5. Those that make a huge fuss of overtaking you, because they wanted to go 2 mph faster that you and then immediately stop to turn right.

6. Those that zoom past you, and then stand on their brakes, causing you to take violent evasive action. Because they just spotted the speed camera that you saw half a mile ago.

7. Those that don’t bother to switch their fog lights off EVER.

8. Those that don’t remember to put their lights on at night.

9. Those that beep at you because you didn’t take off on the red & amber light.

10. Those that don’t know the difference between amber and red & amber.

11. Those that suddenly decide to park on a country lane without bothering with any signals and wonder why everybody else has stopped too.

12. Then there are those stupid IDIOTS that approach a roundabout in the left lane, and drive in the left lane all around it to the very last turning on the right. And exit in total and complete ignorance OF the disaster area that they left behind them.

13. When you are waiting to enter a box junction because it’s blocked and a car eases past from the left and stops in the box then takes the next exit space that you were waiting for.

14. Those tossers that just cannot contain themselves to wait for the end of an exclusion zone, to whizz across the road to merge causing the blockage that the zone was put there to prevent.

15. Those that drive at 50 in town then out in the country they seem unable to get past 30.

16. Those that think the hatched zone that marks the exit of the supermarket car park, is a reserved parking bay.

17. The Grand Prix starts from the fuel pumps to the cashier hoping to intimidate you with their speed.

18. Those that haven’t noticed that the right turn was closed off about two years ago.

19. Those that can’t tell the difference between Give Way and Stop.

20. Those that think “Bus Stop” is Welsh for a bloody parking zone.

21. Those indescribably awful, selfish, , inconsiderate, inbred, loathsome b@st@rds. That stop in front of you on the roundabout in front of the council tip which is usually open. And proceed to disgorge all their junk, rubbish, crap and filth onto the road joining the massive pile of CRAP that is already there day after day after day, Because it is ‘quicker’.

22. Those Hazard light double parkers, picking up the Fish 'n' Chips, dropping off the laundry / kids, making a phone call, drug dealing, checking out some action, buying a newspaper, talking with the neighbours, dumping the rubbish etc etc.

I had one lovely fellow the other day, I am in downtown traffic in the right lane, the fellow beside me in the LEFT lane is eagerly awaiting the light to turn green. As soon as it changes, he bolts in front of me and TURNS RIGHT, from the left lane.

I had a guy try that on me last week. He was in the right lane and decided to turn left as we were going through the intersection. He didn't bother to notice that I was in the next lane heading straight. He now is looking at increased insurance rates. And of course I have to take the time to take my car in to have it fixed.

I think in Canada, eastern anyways, it is a well known fact that Quebec drivers are pretty bad... in fact among the worst in Canada. Since I live across the river from La Belle Province, you can imagine that I see some pretty bizarre things on a daily basis. And this coming from a guy who used to live in Toronto.

Thankfully, my car insurance actually dropped when I moved to this old logging town.

Johnny, you should come out to BC and try driving around Richmond.
UNBELIEVABLy BAD.
There was a scam a few years ago, where the "new canadians" were buying there drivers licences, because they couldn't pass the drivers test.
BUT, even after the DMV was busted, they could not identify the people who bought there licences, so they didn't revoke or retest any one.

I disagree.....here we drive on the "right" side of the road, and the opposite of "right" is "wrong." Therefore, you drive on the wrong side. You see, it's simple.

Having driven on the left/wrong side in a right-hand drive car, I can say the real tough part is looking for the rear view mirror..........

Driving on the left side, how about shifting a standard with your "wrong hand".
I would find that very annoying.

After having driven for around 32 years in India, especially Bombay, driving in Auckland is literally a piece o' cake. NZ drivers show a lot of courtesy on the roads and as far as I've seen follow the road code by the book. It really is a pleasure driving here, guys.

You want to see horrendous, nightmarish driving, horrible and pathetic road conditions, shit-box cars and what have you....then take a trip to Bombay and try driving there. I can bet you BOTH my Rollies that even a Formula 1 driver would be ready to pull his hair out by their roots after just five minutes on Bombay's roads.

Man, if you can drive in Bombay, you're ready for a 24 hour Le Mans....trust me on this one, guys....and if Suhail can read this, he will confirm...heart and friggin' soul!!

Cheers - JJ

JJ, having lived in Toronto for 35 years, which has an extremely high concentration of new Canadians from India... I can catagorically disagree with this statement. They are almost as bad as Quebecers.

I actually didn't find that too bad. The pattern of the gear shift is the same, so just doing it with the left hand instead of the right. No biggie.

In addition to the rear view mirror issue, turning on the wipers every time I go to turn on the turn signal is also a tad annoying........

I always do, right at the posted limit. The tough part is getting around the bozos too scared to drive past a copper at the legal limit.

I onced asked a cop (ex)friend why they do that, they say that 10km/hr or so under the posted limit is the ideal speed to observe while on patrol. What a load of . BTW, he's the type of cop that gives good cops a bad name.
