Advice on a potential trade
Hi,
I am contemplating trading in one of my watches with an AD. I am interested in the following 4 references. I wanted to see how everyone feels about the choices. I have taken the pics from the Instagram. Breguet 7027 (YG in 37 mm size: now discontinued) Breguet 7027 (WG in 37 mm size) Lange 1815 up/down WG Vacheron 1921 RG I will have to pay $1.5k, $3.5k, $10k and $12k respectively for Breguet YG, Breguet WG, Lange 1815 up/down and VC 1921. Both the Breguet watches and VC 1921 have been lightly refinished if that matters. The Lange 1815 up/down is untouched. I understand that Breguet will be hard to sell down the road so I am potentially looking at a lifelong purchase. The 1815 is gorgeous. However, at some point in the future, I plan to add 1815 chrono (WG and black dial). I fear that the 1815 up/down may be too similar to the 1815 chrono. For reference, my current collection consists of Patek 5711 white, Lange 1 RG, Journe CB, and GO PanoLunar blue on bracelet. My future wishlist, which may take quite a number of years, consists of Lange 1815 chrono, Lange 1815 annual calendar, and Breguet 7787 in addition to few Patek/AP sports references. +1.
Close second would be the YG 7027 (it is more historically accurate than the WG, but I'm not a giant YG person).

The Breguets are fantastic, the VC is lovely, the Lange is okay, but there are other Langes you may desire more.

For me it’s going to be the VC 1921. I just love that watch. Been on my list for years.

I really like the Vacheron, though I’ve never tried one on

I think the Lange is the nicest watch here in terms of quality but because you want the 1815 Chronograph in the future (and that's the 1815 to get!) and the 1815 Annual Calendar (that's on my list too!), I wouldn't bother with the Up/Down. Therefore, I'd lean toward the yellow gold Breguet. While the white gold is a bit more subdued and perhaps the gold parts of the movement pop a bit more, the yellow gold is cheaper and pays better homage to the French and English watchmaking tradition of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I do like the Vacheron as well but it's not among my favorites from the brand and I would only add it as part of a much larger collection or if I owned 1920s or 1930s automobile. It's also the most expensive, so there's that too.

I'd hold out for the 1815 chrono if that's the one you really want...

The VC is a future classic imo, if you love it I’d bite the bullet. Especially if 100% complete.

I like the up down the best out of those watches.. but if you know for sure you're adding the 1815 chrono as well as the annual cal.. then the vacheron!

Looks like we have similar taste in watches. I have a 7027wg and the Lange 1815 up/down, along with couple others in your current collection.
Personal ranking in order of preference: 1. Breguet 7027wg (it’s 38mm btw) 2. 1815 up/down 3. 7027 yg 4. Vacheron 1921 |

I agree with the 1921. It’s gorgeous and when I tried one on at an AD I fell in love; it sits really nice on the wrist and is such a simple and elegant piece.

This. Skip a step and hold out for the ALS 1815 chronograph. You'll save money in the long run.

Based on your future purchase of a Lange I would go with the VC. I prefer the Lange though.

I would 100% go with the yg 7027. Breguet makes amazing watches and I would definitely recommend anything from them. Trying on the 7027 was great and I am looking to add the model at some point.
