1975 DateJust Help Please!

Hi. First ever post, so hello. I’m in need of a little help.

I’ve been to view a DateJust today at a neighbours who wants to sell his watch Serial number starts with a 4 and comes up as a 1975 year.
But the problem I need noticed was a reference of 16220.
The watch seems totally authentic in every way but I walked away. Owner said he’d hold it for me once I found out some more info.
Can somebody help with this please. Many thanks.

I believe that’s a 16030. I’m sure a vintage expert will come along to confirm or deny.

16030 would be acrylic crystal from late 70’s. 16220 would have a sapphire crystal and be a newer model.

Thanks for this. Yes it’s a 4418xxx serial. So a 1975. The pictures aren’t great but the ref between the lugs is 16220.

It seems that the serial starts with 44, it's a service case. It has been replaced.

As mentioned, a 44xxxxx is a service case. No telling what the original age may have been without the service paperwork noting the change.

Well everyday is a school day. Thought I knew most things but this is great information so thanks. No paperwork but the clasp is 1997. I just thought it had a new clasp. So it authentic but year unknown.

Yes, 4.4M is a service case. 4.7M also, I believe.
