Root Beer Or Kermit?

what’s everyone’s opinion here?

my wife has been driving me crazy to give her my root beer and to sell her datejust 41 which i got her as a gift. she loves it but loves the root beer as it’s her favorite watch in the rolex lineup. i love it as well but have been thinking about maybe giving it to her (happy wife happy life) and letting the DJ41 go and possibly getting a kermit or polar exp2 for every day.

curious to see if anyone owns the root beer and kermit or exp2 and how they compare / what their preferences are between both

thanks all!

Had the root beer - sold it back to the AD, didn’t like the brown, love my SubLV. To my eyes it is a much better looking watch. The green isn’t washed out like it is on the root beer. The green is much more vibrant than the brown, it really pops off the black dial. There is more contrast. I do like the root beer, but not enough to own and just wear occasionally. The SubLV can be a daily. Love it, can write a book on the comparison! Also like my BLNR much more than the root beer.

I prefer the root beer. I think the brown is gorgeous.

If this is your only watch then the Explorer 2 and the LV Sub are much better as an everyday piece. If it’s one of many the Root Beer can work better. Especially if you wear it more in dressier situations.

I seriously considered the Root Beer. I wanted it in theory because it looked beautiful. But it didn’t sing to me on my wrist.

I ended up getting both the Polar Explorer2 and the LV sub. Love them both. And would choose them again over the CHNR.

Have both, rootbeer is nicer but not a daily for me. But I don't have a wife that wants a rootbeer so...in your shoes...give the lady the rootbeer!

Then find something new to enjoy!

The CHNR is the better looking watch to my eyes and with added utility to boot.

I have 116610LV, TT CHNR and Explorer II Polar. There is no comparison, they all have their unique features and strengths. I would always go for a GMT complication over a diver if it was my only watch and I would take the Polar over the CHNR, for it's size, heft, unique dial and superb legibility. It's impossible to say what would suit you best but you're onto a winner whichever one you take - assuming you're referring to the 126610LV. The original Kermit 16610LV is a different proposition.

thanks for the feedback all!

i daily a speedy currently and i just picked up a YM40 rhodium dial which i will wear daily as well as my job requires more dressy clothing vs casual and the YM fits in with that. my pepsi gets worn quite often as well but not every day. the root beer is an occasional piece and when i do wear it i must say i really enjoy it.

tough decision….

I would give your wife the Rootbeer and pick up the new Kermit. Even though your wife will be wearing the RB, an awesome combo would be the RB and Kermit. Obviously, the two of you could switch from time to time.

I agree with others that the Sub on brushed oyster is a better daily. And I can also attest to the fact that the new Kermit has just the right amount of "pop" to make it a stunner ... but not overwhelming (like the Hulk).

Rootbeer. Give it to your wife. You take her DJ41 (assuming it works for you). Pickup something else in future.

After all the stressing you did trying to get a CHNR, and now your going to give it away???

Better off sending it to me and I'll wear mine and yours together!

What ever sings to you Steve, do.

This love of horology is the stuff that nightmares (and financial ruin) are made of.

Hoping the little guy is well and we need to meet for a drink soon.

Sub for me. Has just enough pop and the brushed oyster is perfect for daily wear. For whatever reason, I've never been fond of two tone watches.

LVC for me. Had the CHNR and the rose gold didn’t work for my skin tone and the overall watch hue was too dark.
