Omega Planet Ocean Question
Hello all,
Has anyone had any experience with poor quality control from Omega or just me. I have a Omega PO that I thought the bezel didn't line up but as it turned out the hole for the stim & crown was drilled 4 degrees off. I know that because the Omega service center in clearwater FL descovered it. so the dial & the bezel are not centered. And no Omega is not going to repair it even though they admitted it somehow shipped through QC. See pic's below. Thanks, Gary |

I've had no problems with my PO!! If I was you I would demand for a new watch because Omega have admitted to the flaw and you have paid alot of money for it!! Plus you don't expect a watch of that price to have flaws like that!!

That's quite unfortunate. I do not own an Omega, but for the price you spent, you should get be able to get Omega to exchange it out. I would bitch, and bitch hard. Send letters to Omega North America headquarters, manager of the store you bought it from, etc. Someone needs to be held accountable and make amends for such an atrocious flaw.

I own a PO (orange bezel) and have no problems with it... I've read that if you want Quality you must buy Omega (IMHO much better than Rolex). I've tried on Submariners and PO is better built and thougher than the Submariner(don't get me wrong, I love Rolex, just not the Submariner anymore). Try to get a new watch or your money back

Just my opinion, but I'd say Omega owes you a new watch, a lap dance, and at least a case of good beer.

I was told by Omega North America that since it's out of warranty it's not there responsablity. I said it's is there responsablity because it left the factory like that. I was then told if I pay $1600.00 for a new case they wolud fix it! I told him "Bullshit" I'll cut it up with my cutting torch before I'll spend that kind of money on "There Mistake".

That's way I own Rolex's now. As soon as I can get rid of this PO I'll be glad. Oh by the way the people at the service center said it's only "Cosmetic' the watch runs fine.

"Cosmetic" on a three thousand dollar watch is not acceptable. Can you go higher than Omega North America?

I'm not defending Omega but how come you didn't notice this a long time ago or did you recently buy the watch from someone? Sorry but I can't imagine this would go unnoticed for over the 3 year Omega warranty. However, it is still a shame that this would get through Omega quality control.

goodness..........
I've never seen a watch with a defect like that.. Too bad that it was not discovered or taken care of sooner. There are consumer laws, and of course the warranty, but those are only good for a short time and not forever........ It may be possible to scrounge a damaged PO and use the two waches to come up with one good one.... but the PO is pretty new, so pickings would be slim..

WOW!! That would be unacceptable to me. I would suggest writing a letter to Greg Swift, President of Omega USA and include the picture of the problem. IMO, they should fix or replace the watch. It clearly compromises your value in the resale market.

Wow, I'm also shocked to see that from such big, respectable brand. And even more shocked that they think it's acceptable.
So, just to add one more vote - I'd definately rant and demand a new watch. I work for a large consumer products company and know from experience, they get scared (or should be!) when when a customer has a legitimate gripe. The cost of replacing a watch for them is far less than the potential damage to their reputation that could come from stories flying around watch forums... Anyway, good luck! |

Look on the Omega website under customer service in FL. It gives you and address and phone number. And yes they authenticated the watch when they took it apart to see what was wrong. At first they thought the pins on the back of the dial where wrong, but they were fine they took lots of pic's and sent them to the factory & that's when they solved it. Before they put it back togather they repalced the seals and water tasted it. They sey it runs great well within COSC standards. And I don't know how I didn't see it for 16 months. It so obvious now.

Wow, that is crazy out of alignment!
Mine was perfectly aligned, so I'd say that is unacceptable. |

Any update? Was the letter sent, and did you get a response yet? Threads like this are important to consumers to let them know what power they have in situations like these, where many people could feel overwhelmed and give up.

Yes, I too am curious. It allows us to see if omega stands by the "quality" of their products, also to see if you were able to get this situation resolved. Don't give up, that's what they want.

It is completely unacceptable that Omega would not immediately rectify their factory defect for you.
Continue to complain and complain loud. Let us know what happens. |

Any results yet??
I am also curious on having any positive results with Omega? That is terrible that a high end watch like that sailed right on through QC. Not acceptable by me. Let us know if and when you get any satisfaction.
