Got the call and picked up today - no AD games (21 month wait)

This is my first Rolex. I registered interest for a Milgauss in October ‘21 with my local WOS AD. I didn’t want to play any games so sat quietly waiting. No visiting the store, sending emails or other sucking up to the AD.

March ‘23 came and the Milgauss got discontinued. A call to the AD was required and I once again went into the store to discuss alternative watches. I’d decided I wanted a DJ41, fluted, oyster with either mint green or blue dial. Luckily they had a green dial in that format I could try on. Perhaps they could have sold that to me but I didn’t push. Instead I simply registered my interest for both. I wasn’t happy with losing 17 months waiting time and the SA confirmed the registration of interest on the blue dial could be back dated to my original date as that combination existed then. The mint green dial was newer and so the registration of interest was dated for April ‘23. That’s fine, I’d be happy with either.

I then got a call Wednesday this week (21 months after my first visit to the store) asking if I was still interested in a blue dial as they may have one available. Why do they use ridiculous language? They either have one or they don’t. I confirmed I was still interested and arranged pick up for today.

I’ve got to say I’m more than just happy with my new watch. This is my first Rolex and it was definitely worth the wait.

Hopefully hearing about someone who got their watch after simply being prepared to wait helps someone else (perhaps 20 months for a DJ is considered too long for some). Also a DJ is in a minor league compared to some of the watches people are after.

My first Rolex journey is now over. Time to enjoy the new watch. It’s looking fabulous.

I can’t post a link with a photo as this is my first post. Is there any way around that?

Congrats! Blue dial is such a good look on the DJ

And, at least in my experience, I've heard them use that language when they're reaching out to multiple people. I know when I got my Sub recently I was not the only one they callled....just the first to commit to it.

Congrats! That’s a nice color on the DJ. I just saw one, today, IRL, on the General Manager of my car dealer. We had a nice conversation about Rolex. His had fluted bezel with Jubilee bracelet. I was not wearing my new Rolex , at the time, but when I took my test drive, I drove home and switched watches, so I could show it to him. He was on the list for a year, at my same AD.

Congrat OP and enjoy.
You bring up a good point, though, as I never thought about how weird some of the language they us really is. When my Exp1 became available, the SA at the time said something like "I may have a unique opportunity for you", over the phone. I was too excited to think twice. In hindsight, so odd.

They probably have training sessions, where they are taught to use such phrases, which are designed to maintain the Rolex aura of exclusivity. They want you to feel like they are doing you a favor, by allowing you to give them thousands of dollars, for their desired product. And, we all fall for it!

So nice to hear someone say they are going to enjoy the watch they just purchased for the time being. I am sure the Rolex bug will bite again. LOL
