Why did Patek abandon Brazil?

I just found out today that there are no patek ADs in Brazil. Considering Patek's history with Brazil it seems really weird that they've closed all ADs in the country. Anyone know why this is?

It's been almost 5 years... And from what I've heard from credible sources who tried to bring them back, there's no interest in having an AD here.

Heard the same, which is unfortunately since my dad has to come visit me to be able to try anything that he is interested on.

I once thought of buying a PP in Bogota... and then was thinking of the logistics to get to the hotel without being mugged, or murdered over the price of that piece in colombia.

Call me paranoid, and all you want but... people get mugged after going to an ATM, sometimes have been killed over some ATM cash.

Then thinking of leaving the country with that piece. Another nightmare.

I imagine in Brazil there is a smaller market for these, yes there are lots of wealthy people, but they tend to be low key in public and in general.

I wouldn't imagine walking through Paulista with a 50-85k piece on my wrist.

100% agree with you. It is def not safe, this is why Brazil is the largest market for bulletproof car.

When I'm down there I don't wear anything, only exception is for someone's wedding or gala events, but that is it.

you shouldn’t use your iphone walking through Paulista Ave! imagine using a rolex or patek there. armored cars and shopping malls are key to avoid trouble.

The Patek ADs in Sao Paulo used to be located in high end shopping areas. You could easily see high-end cars driving by and wealthy Brazilians on shopping sprees at the luxury brand shops. Perhaps things have changed and wealthy Brazilians are shopping elsewhere now. They used to have a significant luxury tax, but not sure if they still do.
