Icon5 390 vs 663?

after much initial excitement, the 390 seemed to fade away from the scene, criticized by some for a dial that could be difficult to match with enough straps.

the 663 is similar, only bigger with a lighter brown dial and a different case.

will the 663 suffer the same fate as the 390?

If you make a zillion different references everything fades away after some time
The 249 and 127 once were VERY hot and sought after pieces
Today their market price is a lot lower than back in 2008 or 2010

This is a thing I don't like about Panerai
They just make too much

SIHH2016 on the other hand was imo a good year
Not too many LE and not a bunch of complications
simple and clean was the way they choose

The 390 was almost "peach" in color. Just didn't work for me. The new looks much lighter.

would be nice to see both in one picture ... than we can compare them.
taking pics indoor or outdoor makes such a huge difference.
I've seen 100 pics of the 662 and not 2 of them look te same lol

If the wrist size can handle 47mm, then 663 all the way.

But for people like me that are having difficult time pulling off 47mm, then 390 it is with the much more comfortable 44mm Luminor case.

390 + 372 = 663

I think we need to bring back creativity versus a roulette wheel of styles/themes of the past.

Nice math -99 ;-)

I think they are winners, but yeah, it is just another variation. Still like them though. Can't collect 'em all however. Think I might get another PAM eventually.

Wish they would make some new historical in 44mm however.

Agreed. And toss in some mid-year releases like the 587 and 643, and OP is doing more things right than wrong recently, IMO.

I like the 390. My only complaint is I wish it had the in house movement. I like the 663 too but I don't do plexi anymore which is why I love my 422 so much.

So some here prefer the Panerai 372 above the new 632

Can you please explain why because I really do not understand
372 is a nice one it was my favourite

Sold it but if I have to buy another one and I have the choice between the tree 72 and the 663
I cannot think about one reason why I should buy the 372

663 is definitely a nice one and the dial seems to be pretty cool
Being a limited edition is not a must but it nice to have

I can understand that some people will not sell their 372 just to buy 663 but if you don't have any of these two and you have to make a choice .... Give me a good reason not to choose for the 663 because I cant find a reason

^ If I had to guess, I would imagine two things: price (372 will always be more reasonable) and 372's black dial being more versatile with straps?

For me, the sandwich dial. From some angles, I can only see those gold hands which gives the 372 a mysterious coolness.. due to the sandwich effect, the hour markers n 3 6 9 12 when view straight-on under normal lighting, looks "deemed" n that allows those gold hands to shine, hence it is so easy to read the time. ..
