Can’t believe I passed on this….

I just got offered an OP coral red from my AD for my wife. Waited almost 7 months for an allocation. But I passed….

Wife’s heart is set on either turquoise blue or green. AD is aware of the color choice but seems like he still couldn’t find either of the colors.

Can’t believe I said no to one of the hottest SS pieces out there. But I am not going to buy it just because it got offered. Hopefully it goes to someone that really wants that color!

Hope I didn’t ruin my chances by saying no. In such market conditions, can’t help feel bad saying no. Who knows if I have to wait once again for months… Here’s to hoping positive karma gets registered.

I think you did the right thing. Personally I think the red is too much. I also like the turquoise blue and green as well.

Sounds like you made the right call passing. Lately we’re hearing a lot of stories of people passing on watches in an effort to secure the watch they truly want and it appears to work out for them. As long as they didn’t order the watch they passed on. That doesn’t work out as well lol.

Good for you, I just did the same thing. Maybe after enough of us do this pendulum will swing back the other way.

It is your wife, so I suspect that it is the coral red 36 mm. If it's even smaller than that, then forget about it. Definitely not the hottest stainless steel pieces that Rolex makes.

Thanks all for words of encouragement! At the end of the day, I indeed feel good about passing on it as it was not what the wife wanted..

Simple answer why should anyone feel bad on not buying any watch they did not really want defeats me.And its quite funny when these colour dials were first introduced way back in the 1970s they were quite poor sellers. But now thanks mainly to the hype they are now like you state so called hot watches.

In my case it would be more feeling stupid for saying yes. But if you want a dabble in the used market that's your business. Once the watch is yours you can do anything you like with it.

I turned down a BLNR last year for a similar reason. The only difference being that I didn't give it another thought. I don't know if karma was involved in my case, but I got a BLRO from the same AD just over a year later.

You did the right thing, passed on the watch that you didn't love.

For me I like many colors of dial, Turquoise, Red, Green and Yellow, either one of them will be OK with me. I got the Turquoise and I am happy with it.

Very true, in fact right now if you search on the various sales sites, those vintage pieces with literally the exact same color dials (and even more colors) can be found for only a few grand. If someone likes vintage watches and also really wants these fad colors, you could scratch two itches at the same time.

Rest easy knowing you made the right decision, OP. So many people fall into the trap of buying a watch they don’t really like to either build a “relationship” or to not ruin their chances for the piece they actually want. It’s something I don’t understand.

Either have patience and wait, pay the premium and get it now, or accept the current reality and get something else. Just my thoughts in navigating the current market. Currently, I’m in the “except the current reality and get something else” camp. The alternatives are just not worth it to me.

I’m at a point in my collecting where the functions I use daily, in a design I like, are more important than the brand. Quality and brand are close. However, if a particular brand is a roadblock to acquisition, I’m willing to move on to another.

I did have to travel through Rolex territory to get here, though.

Good call, wait for the turquoise, you may end up just wearing your wife’s watch like I did Dave

My wife wants the turquoise.

About a month or so ago I passed on a beautiful Rhodium Datejust. It wasn't what I was looking for at the moment, so it would have been an impulse buy more than a planned experience. I kind of wonder if that was a mistake.
