PP vintage boxes

Hi all,

Recently I've been told that the older generation vintage PP boxes have had a tendacy to peel on the inside. Have you guys had the same experience with yours? I'm talking about ones that are previous generation to the current piano box. How easy are they to replace and/or find ones that are in near mint condition over the ages? I would particularly be looking for one with a stylus holder that would have fit the 5035 model.

Thanks,

Tan

Yeah I see a lot of problem with the older Patek box when they aged....

You could always take it to the upholstery shop.....

Linckersdorff in Berlin is offering two of the boxes you seem to be looking for on ebay - not perfect but better than most from what I could see in the pics. Not cheap though - EUR 688 and 680 or you submit your best offer.

Not sure if I am allowed to post the link here but you can look for the title

ORIGINAL PATEK PHILIPPE ETUI / BOX für EWIGE KALENDER AUS EDELHOLZ 1990/2000er

on ebay - make sure that you are looking worldwide.

Ran into them accidentally after reading your post when looking for a Patek 4-watch roll which I happened to find.

PS There are quite a few more from various sellers on chrono24, the nice ones for EUR 750 and up...

The boxes from the 80s and 90s really deteriorate and the peels get over everything. The very old boxes have satin inside and while discolored at places are still fine. Really a shame and I think original owners should be able to receive a new box like the original box but with a better lining at no charge from PP upon request.

I agree it really sucks that these boxes have deteriorated and it's hard to find any that are in good condition over the years. I think I'll write to Patek and see if there is anything they would do for owners from this era!

Thanks, those prices are definitely high but I'll see if they will play ball. Appreciate the help!

Every time I see this type of box, they're always found flaking. This is the box for my 3970.
