Rolex GMT help

Hey everyone. A friend has an old GMT, I’m not sure of the ref #. It looks to be pretty beaten up and the bracelet is super stretched. Can anyone give input to what it’s worth if he wanted to try sell? It hasn’t been polished or refinished at any point in its life, would this be something to keep as is or get cleaned up? Thanks for the help!

A great 1675/3!

You can get the bracelet refurbished and its up to him on a polish. Use a well respected vintage shoppe, (there's a list here) and the polish will not be invasive. It likely needs a service too.

I wouldn't polish it at all, but maybe replace the crystal and send the bracelet to Michael Williams to fix.

Rolex GMT help

Very nice nipple dial. I’d suggest ~USD600 for the bracelet in current condition and ~USD7000 for the head.

Movement service + case refinish + bracelet restoration = upto ~USD1800

Just a guesstimate ...

Might you mean Michael Young?

Thanks for the input guys. If he decided to get the bracelet done and new crystal along with a fresh service what would you estimate he could then sell it for if he decided to go that route? (Hoping he would keep it!)

You’d be unlikely to get your money back... Unless you plan to keep it a few years first.

Here's one of mine that might be useful as a guide. A few months ago, I sold an early 1970s two-tone GMT 1675 with a mint, black dial, mint hands and very nice fat-font insert. The bracelet was about 85% - in very respectable condition and the watch was recently serviced. I sold it for $6750 - pictured below.

That’s a really nice watch. I am sure there are good stories about that, especially if your friend is a pilot, also.
