Help me decide - 2 options

I’m trying to decide between either a Rolex Daytona on Oyster (WG, YG, RG) or a Daydate (RG or YG). I have one other watch which is a Panerai PAM1314 which I bought when my wife and I eloped in Italy. It’s not too comfortable with the leather strap. Ideally the Rolex would be worn with shorts and a t shirt or with a suit and tie. Want something pretty versatile.

Both will work, with whatever you are wearing. I’d pick YG DayDate. What dial color are you thinking?

Out of the options, I'd go Daytona WG. If I was faced with the same situation, I would go Day-Date in WG.

The Daytona and the Day Date are completely different: different look, different function, etc.

If you like them both and would truly love either, get the first one that comes along that you like the looks and price. It would be unlikely today that you will be able to go and look at both side by side to decide.

As a second watch, unless you’re comfortable wearing yellow or rose gold daily, I’d suggest a WG Daytona.

If you like the Day Date, it’s a classic and you can’t go wrong.

Do you have a preference aesthetically?

You can’t go wrong with either one. It’s just a matter of your own taste. If you ask me, i would go for the WG Daytona. But a platinum daydate would also do the trick.

Picking out a watch is a very personal thing. Although we can all suggest what you should get, it really comes down to what YOU like the best. My suggestion is to find an AD/grey dealer that has them, try them on and go with the one that speaks to you. That being said, I just picked up this beauty from my AD yesterday. It's the one that spoke to me.

Congrats - this is truly a special watch. Also one I would consider. I’d love to be able to purchase one through an AD but I haven’t had much luck even with a decent purchase history.

If I was choosing I’d go Daytona, WG - silver dial or black, they both look great ..

Between the two I’d choose the DayDate but I’d choose it in a white metal, platinum or WG if available.

Personally a big fan of PM Daytonas, and less flashy than the DD (especially on OF).

Daytona first and then circle back and get the Day Date later. I just got a WG Daytona myself and I’m eyeing the Day Date for the the next purchase. They both have a place in the collection but the Daytona is easier to wear.

Sounds like you want a gold watch. I’d suggest the Daytona in yellow gold.
(You can’t go wrong with any of your choices!)

Out of the box here, I do YG Daytona and later pick up a preowned 118238 range DD, lot of bang for the buck!

Go with a Daytona. Any of the PM models. Can be worn with shorts and t-shirt or suit.
